Date Requested: 5/7/2022
Actual Ship Date: 6/2/2022

Small order, less than 20 cards, but the original shipping estimate at the cheapest option was the end of August.
Package was received a couple of days ago, and they even put some of the cards in top-loaders which I hadn't requested.

Maybe they are getting things back on track. It is a step in the right direction anyway.

As a buyer it has been really slow. I have traded for more cards than I have purchased from COMC so far this year. That is getting really bad for me.

I'm getting frustrated at both the sellers and COMC.
Sellers are asking way more then I'm willing to pay. There are sellers setting on cards for years and not willing to take offers or lower the price.
COMC is getting harder and harder to find cards that I need and willing to pay the price being asked. They keep asking to send in cards, but processing is high, so sellers have to ask more. It appears they are not willing to do things for the buyers anymore.

Maybe I will remove all the cards on my watch list and spend 2 weeks adding them again in hopes to find a few I'm willing to buy.
I had a pile of cards ($5 to $20) I was going to send in. I have been putting it off and have traded or sold some of them. Maybe one of these days I will send them in. In hopes I sell them at high price so I can buy at high prices.

If you don't mind a newbie question:

I sent my first box of cards to COMC this weekend, and the cards were delivered yesterday. On USPS it shows as "Delivered to Agent for Final Delivery". Is that normal for COMC? And how long before the submission shows up in my account as received?

I know it takes awhile to process the cards, I'm just a little concerned about this "delivered to agent" stuff. I'd feel better knowing COMC actually had the cards in their hands.

That is what happened with all three of my submissions. "Delivered to Agent for Final Delivery" to SAMMAMISH, WA 98074. It took about 5 business days for them to be marked as received. You should be fine!

Yep, its normal. Every time I have sent (about 15 times) it is marked like that. I am sure you will see a received scan(email) in the next few days.

Thanks both. I got an email just now that the order was received.

Postal anxiety, hard to avoid these days.

I don't have a good baseline measure, since I started using COMC just over a month ago. But I have been surprised that more hasn't sold in the last month. And (by dollar value at least) the large majority of sales have come through COMC's ebay listings.

Items for sale: 1,353
Items Sold: 106
Total Sales: 7,024

Every marketplace has been slow in June. And COMC is not immune. Every month this year has been measly fractions of what I did last year.

And I posted this in another thread, but my 2022 estimated sales are a 45% decrease just from last year.

We're in a time of decreased demand and increased printing. It was bound to happen. The card manufactures have done us zero favors to keep the market afloat.

Wonder if Fanatics is concerned after spending insane money to get licenses. Seems like a bad bet on their end.

The amount of money put into the sports card hobby is insane! Everyone went all in and I don't see how this ends badly for everyone.

1. Everyone is starting a vault business including eBay, PSA, and even BGS. Do we need this many vaults and how will COMC/PWCC be affected? I think COMC dealing with low value raw cards will be ok, but the others will destroy each other.
2. Sports cards NFT's. Panini, Topps, Fanactic with Candy, and Dapper all made huge investments into the sports card NFT space. These are all going down, down, down.
3. Grading. In 2019, 2020 I believe PSA was grading somewhere between 1 to 2 million cards a year. Now PSA is over 10 million. Is the hobby 5 times bigger than in 2020? Not only that, but we have SGC/BGS/CSG all grading about 3 million cards a year. We also have about 20 startup companies in the past two years and another company TAG putting big money behind grading.

The next year will be full of insanity with these companies struggling to stay in business with the huge investments they made in the sports card hobby.

I'd like to make an offer on a card but need to add a lot of credit to do it. COMC says that "Buyers Note: Buyers can receive a 100% refund of their store credit if a cash-out request is made within 30 days of purchasing store credit." Has anyone tried that and was able to successfully get the 100% refund?

I don't generally keep a COMC balance so I image loading e.g. $100 to make an offer and if I can't make a deal, withdrawing it within 30 days.

If you want me to make a test offer to see what the minimum offer the seller will consider, send me a PM. But yes, COMC will return your full amount, but I'm not sure if that will reverse the transaction and also refund your sales tax paid.
That being said, I highly recommend leaving some cash in your account on COMC. Makes purchasing a lot easier, and allows you to react quickly if someone lists a great card you need and you have to grab it fast.

So perhaps someone working within the company?

Unlikely; most of them have their own personal accounts on COMC. I wouldn't expect them to use the cart, since they have to pay for shipping immediately rather than continue to store their cards in the warehouse until they want to ship a bunch.

I have way less cards than you do… but its still crazy to expect the 2020 and 2021 levels of sales. My sales those years increased by 25-30x from 2019. Might be lucky to sell 15x this year what I was compared to what I was selling in 2019. Its still good.

Buyers that don't know you can pay less or delay shipping fees by logging in.

So, I'd expect buyers visiting the site for the first time and/or foreign buyers.

Who is buying when purchased by *Cart*?

I buy by *Cart frequently. I add items to my cart, go to the cart and pay. It's very convenient when you are trying to buy multiples of an item at one time and are willing to pay the seller's full asking price.

After that, you don't have to have the items sent to you immediately. They are added to your account like any other purchase and you can reprice or add to a shipment as normal.

I suppose the cart feature could also be used by sellers who don't want to make it easy for you to see that they are the person who bought your item. However, I haven't used it for that. If you do want to make an "anonymous" purchase, even on one item, and you are willing to pay full asking price, you can add it to the cart and then buy.

Buyers that don't know you can pay less or delay shipping fees by logging in.

Those buyers show as COMC_Guest. *Cart is anyone logged in using the cart feature.

Confirm that for me; I wasn't aware it worked like that. I just bought a 3 cent Artem Zagidulin from you. Did it show up as Cart or my username?

Looks like I was wrong on that one. I bought something from multiple sellers using an alternate account with the cart feature and I still showed up as the buyer.

It's possible that *Cart might be someone who is logged in but also paying with credit card, but that's just a guess. Anyway, I do use *Cart all the time for buying, but it doesn't appear to be something that you can use to hide your identity from the seller.

Nope; just very large users with a lot of experience. I have met one of their employees in person in Dallas, and am visiting Seattle next month and may try to meet some more.
