So maybe drafting Antonio worked out after all Been quite the roller coaster, and I'm sure the ride's not over yet

Oops, this isn't my football league!

As for actually baseball- 2 days to go in this matchup!

AL- I'm still down by 50, which is not ideal. My offense has done a solid job keeping me within striking distance. In these last 2 days I have Verlander and Cole pitching, can't ask for anything more than that. 515 has Bassit and Cease left, which really could both go either way. If they both pitch well, it might not matter what my aces do unless Verlander throws another no hitter. But I'm not quite out of it yet, though I don't have much of any margin of error

NL- Well, I was feeling much better before Alex freaking Young (seriously, who the heck is that guy?) decided to go ahead and pitch a 1 hitter. Currently at 25 points in the 7th and still going. That is.... annoying. Still, I have the upper hand for now up by ~40 and with Stroman and Scherzer yet to pitch this week. But it's quickly getting much more interesting than I'd like. I'm certainly not out of the woods yet

Geezus. Going to be a 38 point outing for Alex Young. 8 IP, 12 K, just 2 hits! Can't make this up

Can't ask for anything more than what my AL team gave me tonight. A typical 25 point outing from Verlander and 30+ points from my bats, pretty nice. I'm just not getting any sort of help at all from my opponent's pitchers this week. Chris Bassit randomly has racked up 10 strikeouts tonight and 25 points so far. Granted he's pitching against the Tigers, but still! Looking like I'll still trail by about 30 points heading into tomorrow. Was hoping to have it down to 15-20. Definitely going to need a great day all around from my team and some help as well

Over in the NL, still holding a lead. Gotta say, Stroman has been a total flop for me. I was really excited to grab him when he was traded over and don't regret claiming him (hindsight is 20/20), but man, he's only given me a single outing worth over 10 points. My bats had a respectable night though and have helped cushion that 37 point outing from Young (have I said I'm not getting any help at all from my opponent's pitchers lately? ). Still, it's looking like I'll end the night ahead by about 30-40. That ***should*** be enough to give me the win, especially with Scherzer pitching tomorrow and my opponent without any SPs, but with how things have gone lately I'm not taking anything for granted until all games are done

Now quickly finding the closest wooden door to furiously knock on.....

Since Buehler got bumped from his start and it's win or go home I'm going balls out. Just grabbed Urias to go with Soroka tomorrow. This one is going to come down to the wire.

This AL matchup is too close- I've pulled within 2 points! Going to come down to how GCole finishes his day, and what both of our bats do in the afternoon/night games. But I have a chance, even if it's only a coin flip now

BN2 was at 6 of his max 7 starts going into today. He had Lester and Houser go in the same game. Which one does he get credit for?

Both... though I wish I didn't get Lester, he was supposed to start tomorrow but got changed.
The last day the limit doesn't go into effect. We discussed this earlier in the thread.

Wait what? That makes no sense what so ever. I don't really care at this point since winning really does nothing for me but that's just weird.

You are going to win, Lester didn't work out for me. But yes this is how it is setup in ESPN:

https://support.espn.com/hc/en-us/ar...itching-Limits
Quote:
However, for example, if your league is set to have a Games Started limit of 12 and you have 10 pitchers at the completion of Saturday's games and start 4 pitchers on Sunday, you will receive stats for all 14 pitchers.

That's how it's set up in ESPN, but that's not how it has to or should work for us. In my other leagues we've always said you can't go over. If you do, I can adjust scoring and remove starts as needed starting with pitchers whose games started latest, until someone meets the max starts

Looking back at our OP, it looks like we didn't explicitly address that, so I'm not sure how you guys want to handle it. Hopefully the last few batters' games will finish and it won't change the outcome of the matchup one way or another and then we can clarify moving forward

Where did we discuss that here? I don't remember the conversation, but would be surprised if we agreed that we were going to allow that loophole. Would like to go back and read what we all said

We have had this discussion before. I don't see what the issue is as it is too complicated to figure out every little detail of how to make it work. It has been this way all season, it actually hurt me this time (Lester was a late change and wasn't supposed to pitch today, and has since given me negative points because of this). It is a loophole, but one that is hard to plan around with a limited pool.

Starting on post 1700 on June 1st (not going to post all the quotes):

Folty vs. Det. 7:21 first pitch
Maeda vs. Philly. 7:10 first pitch
Smith at SD. 7:11 first pitch

The thing I'm caught up on, I think those first pitches are based on local time. Folty's game would have been eastern time, while the other two would have been pacific time- am I thinking about that right? If that's the case, Folty's game would have started several hours before the other two. So his should cound. And then Maeda's should count next since first pitch was a minute before Smith's

Getting this out there because I am a little unsure, and obvs I do have a vested interest, so I'd like some thoughts. I've had to look at times to figure out which starts should count before, but the time zones have never played a difference

Nevermind the rule came up fast in a search here it is:

I disagree that it's hard to enforce, it's actually really easy. It starts with honor code by each team, but if someone goes over, I can manually adjust the scoring and cancel out starts as needed

Reading the rest of the conversation around what you quoted (there were a few more that you didn't quote), it looks like we didn't make any official rules, but tended to agree that we shouldn't allow someone to go over 7 in a week. IIRC it didn't end up making a difference, I believe, so I probably didn't adjust anything

Yeah just looked it up, my opponent that week went over their starts on a Friday (somehow) that week, but I ultimately had a strong weekend to finish the matchup and won by a good margin, so him going over didn't matter in that case

With my matchups this week-

In the NL, all games are done and I am officially moving on to the second round! Couple of Seth's arms really put some pressure on me and kept things interesting. GG, Seth! On to a tough matchup against Eck and the #1 overall seed. Unfortunately I'll only get 1 start out of Scherzer this week

AL- This is still really close! An absolutely monster outing from Cole pushed me into the lead, but the Yankees/Red Sox still need to play. I need my Mike Ford and 515's JD Martinez and LeMahieu to net him 17 points or fewer in order to hold the lead. Those bats are all certainly capable of putting up big numbers though, so I'm still nervous here

I certainly do miss him, but my team really turned things around once I traded for Max. I just wasn't getting nearly enough production out of my SPs before making that deal

Also think it's funny that this matchup will be Belli vs. Yeli, just like real life

Holy cow. My comeback in the AL was crazy. Down 50 points heading into Saturday. 515 got a great outing from Bassit and a solid 26 points from his bats on Saturday. But Verlander and Cole really stepped up when I needed them most and combined for 65 points in 2 days. Mitch Garver was huge as well, scoring 19 in the last 2 days of the matchup. I didn't think I would make it to round 2 with how big a hole I had to dig myself out of, but here we are. Great matchup 515!

Moving on to a tough one against Jac who has had great teams in both leagues all year long. I won't get a double start week from Cole or Verlander which is a bummer (though if I did, that means I probably wouldn't have won last week). But Jac will only get 1 start out of Clevinger, so I'd say we're on about even grounds. Looking forward to this one!

So I won in the NL only and now I get to face the #1 seed. This should be fun.

The bracket doesn't refresh each time. It's initially set up as #1 plays winner of #5 or #4 and #2 plays winner of #6 or #3. So if there's an upset in the first round, the matchups don't change

I got ya. Hope to see you in the championship! Gotta salvage some kind of pride after my embarrassing 0fer in the AL only.
