Depends on perspective I guess. Literally all parties are saying that Sho has no involvement with gambling. You're really making some leaps of faith to suggest Sho is a degen gambler.

If you're saying he wired the money and is susceptible to wire offenses, sure, but that's a variation of the scenario I already described.

Yes, all of the parties that have a vested interest in saying he has no involvement in gambling are saying he has no involvement in gambling. Of course, I'm not saying that he is/was betting, I'm just saying its. very logical explanation for how said events transpired.

Too soon to tell, but there is no need for 2 people to go down over this incident, so if there’s a meeting where many involved agree to agree ~ they are going to throw a Translator under the bus / not the Superstar.

I find it hard to believe that Ohtani has made many well thought out choices as he rose to this level, and let his “friend” have access to millions of dollars / wire transfers with no knowledge or involvement- doesn’t pass the smell test.

100% agree in this. The fact Ohtanis agent hasn’t come out and stated anything on behalf of his client, to me at least, is telling. Ohtani strikes me as being a very smart and sharp minded person, so this whole “aw shucks” portrayal doesn’t fit. I also don’t believe this would have come out if there weren’t something bigger brewing. If Ohtani had zero liability in all of this, MLB and the Dodgers would have been able to sweep this away.

BTW… what a great time for the FO! Multi-million dollar Japanese players are doing well for them! Ohtani stirring the nightmare waters and Yamamoto getting lit up his debut.

No —- I’ve reached the “it LIKELY happened” stage. There’s a big difference between that and “it happened”

A bunch of grown men scrambling to get their stories aligned with each other is not necessary when everyone involved tells the truth - those stories ALWAYS align effortlessly.

That’s interesting to me, thanks. My wish list is an Archives photo variation and also a Transcendent through-the-years card. Even if Ohtani’s “market” stays relatively flat in the short run, it would seem like at least some cards will appear in listings as some decide to sell. i.e. listings/supply might go up a little even while demand/price stays the same.


As for news on this in a general sense, naturally there was going to be a big lull in activity - it’s a hella long flight to Korea.

There’s also the very possible scenario that somehow nobody has brought up which is piles of money could still be owed. And if they want to eventually get paid from whomever it is that owes, it’s in their best interest to be accommodating.
