One of the biggest obstacles facing us today is media/social media.
What I mean by that is I could post a link to a source that paints whatever topic I'm discussing in a positive light. Then someone else posts a rebuttal with a link from a source that supports their argument. Rinse, repeat. Rinse, repeat.
I honestly don't know what can be done about it. Fact checkers clearly aren't the answer.

Malcolm Jenkins was spot on.

Drew Brees needs to retire - too many head hits.

So only one side is allowed to express their opinions? Seems hypocritical

Sometimes I wonder why anyone says/posts anything on social media. People can't win these days ... no matter what you say/think, you appease some & piss off others & just cause more controversy.

No, but it's a complete lack of empathy by Brees. And a total lack of understanding what the protest was about.

Dadgum, that's a hell of a twist:

- Minnesota begins recording "COVID-19" on the death certificates of any person who dies for any reason after testing positive.

- Many on the Left say this is a good thing because we're undertesting and underreporting while many on the Right say this is an attempt to inflate numbers and scramble for federal funds.

- George Floyd is killed by police, triggering massive nationwide protests.

- One especially contentious aspect of Floyd's death has been the dueling autopsy reports which have differed as to the exact cause of death. The protestors want it to be clear that Floyd died of asphyxiation and nothing else.

- Floyd tests positive for COVID-19.

- Will Minnesota add "COVID-19" to his death certificate as a comorbidity according to their established procedures?

Social media and the instantaneous dissemination of information is (curiously) a threat to humanity.

It's strange typing that, but I do feel like the peak of "learning" has been reached online and we're now headed into a dumbing down spiral.

It seems like the only thing different about what Brees said, as compared to similar thoughts from players when kneeling was more of a thing, is the timing of it all.

I disagree. All he said was he understands there is a problem but there’s other ways to protest. If you can’t take that answer you are too sensitive. He never said it wasn’t a problem but in his opinion it shouldn’t be during the anthem. He never said others could he just gave his opinion. I also think Jenkins made a fair response. That’s called an open dialogue

Don’t get started with that BS too sensitive stuff. Seems like quite a few players of color are too sensitive, at least according to you.
Other ways to protest? What other ways do you recommend? It seemed like a very appropriate way to protest. It was peaceful and brought attention to the issues at hand.

Edit: you really don’t see Brees’ comments as a lack of empathy? That’s sad, Im sure you share his same lack of empathy.

Fair enough as that's your point of view.
From my view it did more to divide than to bring people together.
We can just agree to disagree as this topic is a classic example of beating a dead horse.

Lol. Give me a break. There's a way to talk about things without being offended.

Then ignore me if you want and talk about how something like wearing a Fidel Castro shirt jives with an anti-oppression message. Direct it to everyone else besides me.

The problem is, it didn't because a lot of people have the same opinions as Brees. It added more issues. I think the protests now have been much more impactful.
