Will today be the most watched preseason game in the history of baseball?

The 2018 Holiday will sell better during X-mas season.

Since I am the self proclaimed king of Ohtani base RC cards (I probably have a few hundred raw cards from all the various topps brands) I was thinking...what would have to happen for Ohtani Topps RC base cards from all the different Topps products to reach the $50 and above point? If he hits 50+ HR and the Dodger win the WS do you think this would be possible? I am not selling btw...I am holding my Ohtani cards for the long term. I was just wondering what would have to happen for the price of this cards to like double.

And they show up late just like regular dodger games.

A home run streak like Acuna did in August 2019 with 10 hrs in 13 games...or making a run at 60+ hrs...50 hrs may not move the needle a lot. Not all base are equal either...so the flagship base (700, update debut) will move sooner than other base brands. The base 700 and update debut are running around 25-35 right now so it's not too far from 50.

It's always going to boil down to supply vs demand. Ohtani and Dodgers could do everything and more but his base cards are unlikely to go to the moon due to both print runs in 2018 and having multiple options to choose from (S2 + Update + Update RD).

IMO We will not see a price point in Ohtani like Trout 2011 Update RC. That card was a completely different animal for multiple reasons.

With that said I have a nice stash of base RC's and I'm not selling because I'm hoping that I'm wrong.

its a great time to have your Ohtani Rookie Cards graded, especially if they will be sold in the future.

i know they made a lot of his Rookie Cards, but in the end i dont think it will matter, people will want them

I have both update chrome refractors. I remember one sat morning early last season on myslabs someone listed a ton of high end ohtani cards. I thought 4k was too much for a psa 9 bowman auto. Oh well lol.

You are completely correct about supply and demand! Ohtani is going to surpass Trout as the number 1 modern player to collect (if he hasn't already) and expect demand will keep on increasing as time goes by. If he wins multiple WS rings his legend is just going to grow and grow. I think he ends up more of a hobby darling than any other player in the past 30 or 40 years. In fact besides vintage HOF players I think he will be the modern player to collect even more so than Ken Griffey Jr. when its all said and done.

At this point I am very bullish on Ohtani. I am not really looking to buy or sell at this point. I just want to ride the train as his career moves forward.

Would love to see his #700 RC raw reach $100 one day.

I agree, he's 0-2 so far this spring. Its all over. You should just sell me your Ohtani cards for 50% comps before the bloodbath!

Compared to the entire print run of every 2018 Ohtani issue? Minuscule.

Agreed! I was just trying to prove a point that with enough demand anything can happen.

If the base #700 can sell for as high as $35, I don't think $100 it too outlandish in the next 10 years if Ohtani keeps playing up to his high standards!
