Florida State losing next week is the only way I see a team like Texas or Alabama sneaking into the top 6...

Agree with your top 6. I think Michigan has now turned into Clemson from last year, the Committee hoping they lose now and they can bury them around #7 or 8 after losing to OSU.

Very strange year for the PC. We will be getting our 4th ranking on Tuesday and not a single team in the top 8 has lost during that time. I am not going to look it up so I may be wrong but AFAIK that is unprecedented.

As such, we have seen virtually no movement in the top 8. UGA jumped OSU and there are those who believe Washington may jump FSU this week….. but really, that’s it. 4th week of rankings and the top 8 remains almost identical to the first.

Florida State is projected to open as a 10 point favorite so yes, Florida winning that game would hardly be the “upset of the century” - especially with a backup QB for FSU.

Heck just last night we had a 21 point ‘dog win outright when New Mexico beat Fresno State and a 25’ point ‘dog NMSU whupped Auburn. That’s two bigger upsets for the state of New Mexico alone….

Good news: The Apple Cup will continue, though it sure will be weird to watch it in September.

Just saw a site that had Michigan and Ohio State playing in the Sugar Bowl in the Final 4. First of all, I don't think the NCAA would pit that matchup since they play this weekend. Secondly, one will lose this weekend thus fall out of the Final 4.

I believe whoever wins Georgia-Alabama and Ohio State-Michigan will be 2 of the final 4. The others will be Florida State (got a snoozer of a schedule to go) and whomever wins between Washington and Oregon in the Pac 10 championship.

If a one loss Michigan or Ohio State get in over a one loss Georgia, Alabama, Washington or Oregon, that’s very dumb

Georgia probably has the weakest case of the non Big 10 group if they finish with one loss

It would take several CCG upsets to create a situation where a non-conference champ gets in this year. While possible, I just don't see it happening.

As I mentioned in a previous post, this will be the 4th week of playoff rankings and not once has a top 8 team lost during that time. That is leading to a potential jam of 1-loss teams - not to mention that having 4 undefeated teams remains a possibility.

No.
This year in college football has been a snooze. Nothing but blowouts it seems. I have been looking at schedule every week and there is usually only like3 games where both teams are ranked. Even then, they might not be that interesting. I have watched less this year than anytime in a long time. Hopefully, an anomaly season and not the norm where talent aggregates to the top teams via NIL and portal.

I'm interested to see what happens if this scenario plays out:

Ohio State (or Michigan) wins out 13-0
Washington wins out 13-0
Florida State wins out 13-0
Texas wins out 12-1
Alabama beats undefeated Georgia in SEC Championship 12-1

I'd have to really look at things, but however unlikely it is, I think there are scenarios where both the B1G and SEC could either have two teams or none. It'll be a fun couple of weeks...wish we had the 12-team this year.

If Alabama destroys Georgia, hard to keep them out after killing teams since that Texas game.

I would say today, Alabama would confidently defeat Texas. Just like today, as sad as it hurts to say, Texas would defeat OU in a rematch.

I think it's going to get interesting if Oregon beats Washington, Louisville beats FSU, Alabama beats Georgia.

That said, we could have a Red River rematch in the Big12 championship if this happens:
Texas wins, OU wins, Oklahoma State loses

Michigan students talking of "boycotting" GameDay in Ann Arbor because of ESPN coverage of the cheating.

Wolverine kids should be lobbying for Charissa Thompson to be the lead reporter on Michigan's scandal.

Not as hard as it would be to leave out Texas (if they win out) after having beaten Alabama head to head.

IMHO a FSU loss makes things very easy. Louisville is the odd man out in that situation and while I am sure their fans will be upset, I just don't see there being much national uproar.

A 3-point loss at a neutral site to a rival v. a 10-point loss at home to the team in question.

I'm not saying the committee won't make a bad decision—only that putting a 1-loss Alabama in over a 1-loss Texas would, in fact, be a bad decision.

Everybody else is worrying about playoffs and I'm just sitting here with the hope that the Gamecocks can beat Clemson for the 2nd straight year and get into a bowl.
