Very inconsistent. Maybe something to do with accepting a straight up offer versus a counteroffer? Maybe just random? It's a mystery.

I'm going through some of my Ohtani's, and I got a question for the group.

Are the 2018 Topps Holiday's really that un-desirable? I see PSA 10 metallic snowflakes going for only $80. Don't these have a somewhat limited print run?

You are correct that supply is low but demand is lower for those, at least for now. There's just so many RC year options for Ohtani that the non mainstream releases take longer to appreciate, but appreciate they will. It's just a matter of how long do you want to wait. Also it's still February. Ohtani prices tend to peak in July/August the last few seasons

Print run is about 2,900 metallic snowflake. So it is an under appreciated card based on PR and price.

Also a tough grade, at least in my experience.

I still think the 2018 Holiday set is criminally underrated, given that it has one of two paper, flagship, standard size Bat Down Acuna's, an attractive Shohei RC and the mid-chase allure of metallics and full-chase allure of Soto/Acuna/Sho autos.

In a time where I'm trying to buy less and contract my go-forward collection, that's the last card I'm buying .

I do imagine these cards are subject to price manipulation though. Sho attracts a lot of collectors that know nothing and unfortunately get taken. Good for the game, challenging for the hobby.

I was looking at my metallic of Ohtani to grade, noticed one of the corners is pretty much shot. Don't think it would be higher than an 8 maybe 9 if I'm lucky, but dang these are cheap for the print runs of a batting Ohtani rookie.

Not saying they should sell for more than gold /2018 cards, but the fact the 3 homerun streak checklist card gold of Ohtani in Update sells for $150 raw but these can't even muster $100 in PSA 10 form seems like these have way more potential.

lol....people got suckered into bidding on and buying that card on Ebay. I saw it happen A LOT last season. Some sellers put reprint in the title/description, some put "RP" and other people didn't even mention it. I saw it selling for around $100 and a little above.

I think anything flagship SP, SSP and numbered in general is going to be more popular and have more demand than any of the other topps brands even those that have a smaller print run.

With that said I am hoping that the SP's of the other Topps brands that I am holding appreciate in value.

In the long run I expect population number will matter as I expect demand to only increase as Ohtani's legend grows more and more and I expect there will be new Ohtani collectors from here on out.

My problem is that I did not start collecting Ohtani until 2021 when he started taking off during he MVP year so I don't have print run information for all the different topps products, and I am bad at math. When I see print run information on this thread, or from other sources, I write it down.

Would be great if the people in this thread that had all the print run information would share with us other collectors. I know I would send them an Ohtani card as a token of my appreciation.
