They're not taking the cards out of the card saver when they do the first view scan though, how would they be getting damaged? So many variables, cards could get damaged at so many points in the process, annoyingly.

Did you send your cards in cardsavers or toploaders?

For several months there, I really think they were doing them raw. The damage reports here in Blowout and Insta and Twitter of bumped corners and surfaces scratches were just through the roof in 2022 and through most of this year.

Paper isn't even the whole problem. I sent chrome non-sport for this promotion and saw a significant amount of damage to the cards. I'm convinced the New Jersey location has (or had) a major process flaw somewhere, and I'm fairly sure it's after grading.

This is probably why they started doing the first view images. I’m pretty sure that’s only been around for a couple months, if they damage a card during grading or encapsulation those photos will show the card before that process started.

Just had my first submission since they added "First View"....crapped my pants thinking the cards were all scratched up, turned out it was just their scanner taking crappy photos - really dumb feature imo

My "First View" pictures are fine, clear and not looking bad, cropped perfectly. They were sent in brand new card savers, not top loaders. I've seen some bad examples but no complaints here on mine with this order.

Yep multiple scanners they own are already all scratched up to heck. I just had 5 orders arrive last week and thought the same thing as you

I had the scratches as well, but I’m assuming cards are fine. I can say though that I sent out a few orders recently and the first 2 orders they received were taken out of the card savers. I had tabs attached to the back of the penny sleeves inside of the card savers and none of the cards in the order still had the tabs on them, but all of my orders since have.

They must have just taken my tabs off then, but mine aren’t in the pictures, so they definitely did something, because it was inside of the card saver.

Same here for over a week and a half, with my list disappearing the same day as QA2. No emails from PSA though.

It's for that reason. Some cards can fit pretty loosely in a top loader without any cover over the top. They don't want cards sliding out of a top loader and getting damaged. Card Saver keeps them secure in transit.

My understanding is that they literally cut the card savers open to take the cards out in the way that risks the least damage. Top-loaders they can't do that.

Not always. In one of my current orders, they 100% removed every one of my thick cards from the Card Saver 4 it was sent in and put it into a toploader before they took the picture. The cards that went in a normal Card Saver 1, as far as I can tell, were photographed in it.
