I would think as a coach looking to the future it's likely more important to bring an 18 year old that could likely be a staple of the team for years to come and get experience over an 28 year old that is going to get limited minutes anyway.

Rapinoe shouldn't be there so if Hatch should have replaced anyone it's her. She looked like trash and that just isn't my biases there as I can't stand her. The entire promo before the game was 50% Rapinoe it seemed and her announcement of her retirement to make it all about her was not unexpected from a narcissist.

The only bad thing about this WC so far is her plastered all over the place.
This is silly. Rapinoe was always going to make this team. She has done more for Women Soccer in the States than pretty much anyone, plus she was the golden boot and ball winner of the 2019 World Cup.

If you are going to take a shot at Rapinoe and say she made it all about her, you can easily say Thompson was only picked on her age, and being the #1 pick in the NWSL draft. She has 3 goals this season in club play. Hatch IMO was a better selection then her for this cup.

Also regarding play, maybe the whole 13 to 16 hour time difference is still messing with them and they are jet lagged. How long ago did they get to Australia?

What a silly take on what I said. I never claimed Rapinoe wouldn't make it only that in my opinion if you were going to replace Rapinoe or Thompson with Hatch then replacing Rapinoe makes much more sense regardless of what she has done in the past. Of course she made it because of her past accomplishments and what she has done for the women's game. Media would have had a absolute meltdown if she hadn't made it.

Getting Thompson World Cup experience is much more valuable to the team in the future as the front will likely be a mix of her, Rodman, Smith, Macario and Swanson and she brings speed off the bench late which is pretty valuable against tired legs.

It's just an opinion, I didn't kick your dog or anything so don't get so hurt over it.

Eh.. US to AUS jetlag-wise is pretty easy to take, you pretty much just fast forward a day. It's Even easier if they flew at night.

They were ranked 119th five years ago. The vast majority of their players play in the US and French leagues.

I think you're the one who needs to step outside for some fresh air.

He's a weirdo. I called Savannah McCaskill a slob and he nearly took my head off. He wouldn't last one day in the basketball section (where BO members criticize everything and every one.)

Yes, I understand that acting like a reasoned adult may be beyond you.

You didn't call her a slob. You said she needed to 'cut back on the cheeseburgers'

Just for the record, strictly speaking of on field performance, I thought Rapinoe’s play was pretty terrible. It seemed like most of her touches resulted in either kicking it to the other team or kicking it out of bounds. I also thought she looked slower and more fragile than I remembered.

I think you need to go back and read some of your old posts before crying about my cheeseburger comment. Pot calling the kettle black.

I’m a weirdo and your on here body shaming a player playing in one of the top leagues of her profession.

She didn’t have a great game but let’s remember she is 38 and coming off an injury and played limited minutes.

Which is exactly why she shouldn’t be on the field in a WC game…age is difference but Rose is also just coming off an injury and limited minutes and she looked like one of the best players on the field for USWNT after she came in.

I’ll eat my words if Rapinoe shakes off the rust and provides anything in her minutes but she was constantly giving away possession on her first touch, was hitting terrible crosses and (her specialty) set pieces, were subpar as well.

Rapinoe shouldn’t be on the roster. Period.

The coaching staff has been vague about it publicly. But the official story, that the US is just deeper in attack than anywhere else and she in their eyes hasn’t cracked into that group yet, might be legitimately accurate. It is somewhat disappointing imo that they didn’t bring her into a camp when they had some injuries/absences (like during their friendlies in New Zealand) just to see what they got as it’s difficult to tell how she’s progressed at Tigres. From what I’ve seen, scouts are more enamored with Thompson than with where Fishel was at that age. Obviously Chelsea must feel comfortable in their evaluation to splash the money they did, she’s bet on herself in an unconventional way and it’s going to be exciting to find out if it pays off.

Having mostly studio promo photos is disappointing (particularly since the Parkside One Nation set does the same) but hey the price is right. $10 doesn’t get you anything else in this hobby… except a NWSL hanger of course

Chelsea Women are going to have an impressive front two with Fishel and Macario

Great showing by 43rd rank Jamaica.. But man losing Shaw in extra time to a second yellow is going to be a killer.

In 2019 they released cards after every game (the firat batch maybe after the first 2 games?). I was hoping they would do the same this year. Maybe they'll do them after the group stage. Those first couple games that year had PRs in the 60s and they also did parallels of each card.

With WC going on, let's see some of your international cards!

Here is a recent pick-up of mine:

Mina Lee was a member of the South Korean squad years back and was a very impressive player until she suffered an injury while playing in Japan for INAC Kobe Leonessa. She was never quite the same after that. The card above was printed around 2019 in Japan during her time there.

Got my Pride set today, the cards are beautiful, but tbh the selection wasn't the best this year.

Got a Jess McDonald /50, no Auto. I believe the only auto was King/Fishlock dual?
