I am partial to the fotl Stars and Stripes NT rpas but I can’t remember the last time I saw one of those. Having said that, this particular NT rpa is definitely up there as one of the best Mahomes cards in existence IMO.

2020 draft update: CE-H is great. L'Jarius Sneed is the best DB in the 2020 rookie class. Willie Gay and Darius Harris balled out last week. Mike Danna is a solid rotation guy and looks like future starter material.

I know this is nit picky, but the FOTL is a variant, not a true parallel.

It doesnt matter to 99% of collectors, and its still an amazing card, but it puts the Gold ahead for me.

Second, this particular copy is perfection. The grade. The auto. The patch. Perfect.

Interesting, I had always assumed the best grade/patch combo of the fotl Stars and Stripes NT would be the Mahomes holy grail. I certainly can appreciate this line of thinking though and always enjoy a different perspective. Of course, I will never get a chance to own either, but it’s fun to dream haha.

It's a matter of preference.

For some, the fact that there are only 13 Stars and Stripes and no parallels of it might make it the best.

Personally, that gold is just stunning.

There has been some talk of rare inserts lately. I know things like stained glass and color blasts are popular. I am curious what people think the best looking Mahomes inserts are?

2017 Flawless RPA is the king of Mahomes inserts the same way that the 2003 Limited Logos is the king of LeBron inserts.

As far as “regular inserts” or excluding the monster flawless rpa. I like The Rookies honestly. And really like Illuminations (and green version).

I never really considered the Flawless rpa to be an insert. In my mind it has always been a true rpa....and the best looking of all rookie year RPAs. What makes it an insert vs say the color blast?

Illumination, the rookies, and rookie introductions are some of the less expensive options. With no budget in mind I would go with the stained glass.

It's not part of the base set. Historically, that's always what's made something a true rookie card.

Some will say that anything with a 'RC' logo makes it a rookie card, but I go by the old school definition.

It is technically not a true RPA because in flawless there are no RPAs in the base set. The base set is simply the diamond card /20 I believe. Actually, they even do that that year? Regardless, I think the base card is a simple diamond auto so these RPAs are not “true.”

Having said all of that, there is no doubt that the market has spoken in the market has considered these to be RPAs In the truest sense of the word. They are selling second only to national treasures. I do not believe very many people consider it to be an insert anymore.

No doubt. But in that case, because there is an actual exquisite RPA, the limited logos pales in comparison to the base. Long story short, it’s definitely a matter of semantics and all I am saying is that people prefer the flawless “insert” over the base card by a wide margin, And the market has also spoken about the Flawless RPA is second to the NT RPA.

It's the same way with the LeBron...

Nobody considers it a true rookie, but behind the RPA it's his second most valuable.

I just wish I had either and am glad I have 1 Mahomes.

Those are some of the best for sure. I love the color blast, but do you think if they keep there value when they seem to come out in every release now? I think they did 3 this year so far?

Also, I see a limited BGS 8 /75 that sold for 2750, already reposted by the same seller for more. Are a lot of people experiencing shill sales ATM?

Yeah, Panini has done well with the inserts recently. I would add Intergalactic to that list as well.

Perhaps I'm in the minority, but I dislike Color Blast. I don't get it. One thing is I don't like horizontal cards, plus the whole design is overrated to me. I really don't like them. And johnashleyjacob is right, they're putting them in every product now, apparently. Just like they did with the Downtown insert. That's why I don't collect that one either. The rest of these are awesome. Unfortunately, I have every other Rodgers 2016 and 2017 gold mojo from Prizm except Stained glass. I really missed that boat.
