The MIL was a total waste down there. She never went to the pool. She went to the beach by herself the last evening we were there and spent the entire time on the phone. She refused to get her photo taken with us when we went to the Giant Crab, The Hollywood Wax Museum, or the Pirates Voyage dinner show. She spent most of the time in her room or in the hallway on the phone. Even when the kids went to the go cart track, she was on her phone the entire time instead of watching them.

Like I said, huge argument between the youngest SD and my wife and the MIL about the MIL.

The oldest SD was mad because we never hit a liquor store until the last night and she wanted to buy some hard liquor. Of course the alcoholic had to drink everywhere we went and my wife kept paying for it.

She was also mad that my wife wouldn't take her back to the store on Broadway on the Beach and buy her some $65 custom made t-shirt.

I had a text message from our fire department member who is now the Southern MD VFA President. He needed my e-mail address as he is adding me to the Photographer's Committee.

I actually have to go back to real work in the building tomorrow. I'm not looking forward to it.

I'm thinking of taking off on Wednesday so I can help with the group of kids that are visiting the firehouse for a tour.

I still have to go through all of my photos from North Carolina. Trains will be much later on, but there was some nice fire trucks. Unfortunately, the event wasn't back to pre-COVID levels yet. I did get a newly delivered 2021 engine though and a truck that is painted for children's autism awareness; well one active fire department one and one retired that tours.

I also took a ride with a friend from Pennsylvania and we hit some fire departments in Harrisburg and Concord, NC. We also saw the Charlotte Motor Speedway.

Can't do that. I have to save leave for the National and I am hoping in September to transfer companies in which case my company has to pay me for my remaining leave balance.

Took this last Sunday evening in Statesboro, Georgia.
The firepeeps were eating at a nearby restaurant.

Sorry the trip was stressful, FT. Love the photos you posted especially from the wax museum.

My Son had a blast there. It is much better again now that the props are back. They had removed them last year due to COVID.

Dolly Parton's Pirates Voyage show was awesome!

The Giant Crab was delicious as always.

The pool and beach were nice. I loved the room we had, but wished it was in our normal hotel with the poolside bar and great food plus the bowling alley.

My Son had a blast at the go cart track too but after going around two different tracks by himself twice and one track with his youngest SD, he was done.

I bought my wife a nice pair of earrings down there for her birthday and then she saw a ring she liked better the next day. I ended up picking that up and returning the earrings.

Her birthday dinner turned into another huge argument last night at dinner. The three SDs and I agreed that the best day to take her out for her birthday this week was on Wednesday as they were all off; her birthday is Friday. We made these plans on Thursday. Last night at dinner the oldest SD (who had input) complained that he and her boyfriend were going to the movies Wednesday night. Then the MIL, said not only should she do whatever she had planned, but she wouldn't be changing any possible plans she may have to make it to her own daughter's birthday dinner. My wife could see the fumes building up inside of me. She told me later she didn't want to go out with the kids or her Mom on Wednesday and that her and I would celebrate her birthday alone or with our Son on the actual day.

One night I was up until 2:30 AM because everyone not named me, my youngest SD's boyfriend, or my Son was arguing. Sounds like a female thing.

Both SDs were arguing, my wife and her Mom, the youngest SD and her Grandmother, the youngest SD and my wife; On and on it went. over the top rope battle royale?

Blew the engine on my old car that the youngest SD drives first day of the trip after it was rattling and knocking and I turned around and drove it home right before we got to I-95 from 301. The youngest SD had driven a week with the oil light on and it ended up having no oil in it. Of course, the B blamed me for driving it back home. The only reason I didn't worry about the low oil pressure light on was that I was assured the oil had just been changed by her and my wife and that the sensor must be malfunctioning. Of course the youngest SD is demanding a new vehicle to drive; more source of arguments during the trip. She screwed the car, she can either buy one or go without. The sense of entitlement seems high with this one.

The youngest SD complained she got to do nothing she wanted to do even though the 1st day and a half we did everything she wanted to do. I mean, that was the reason we had 3 cars down there, so people could do whatever the heck they wanted to do.

Trip was just f'in miserable like all family vacations. The only trips I enjoy and that are worth it are when I go by myself or it's just the wife and I.
Bolded and my condolences.

Yeah the oldest is always a B to our Son. I laugh my butt off when she says something to him and he calls her a druggie.

Oh the sense of entitlement is high with her. She is such high maintenance. Always demanding Apple products and always asking her boyfriend to buy her expensive stuff. He bought her a $200 necklace on this trip because she wanted it. No anniversary or anything.

She can drive the old mini van until I can see what my finances look like in October to purchase a new motor. Of course that isn't good enough for her and she is demanding a used car be purchased now with shared payments between her Dad and Mom. I told my wife, this is why you need to clue the kids in on some financial information. My wife has a brand new $700 car payment on the new mini van plus the increase in car insurance. If it was my daughter, she would be driving the old minivan to her new job or begging her grandmother for a ride.

If she had come to me about the light being on, I would have suggested we check the oil. Her Dad is a car guru for crying out loud and she didn't even ask him. Like you said, she f'd that car up by driving it for a week on the last leg of oil to no oil and I finished it off. If I hadn't turned around when I did, I'm sure I would have been broken down on the side of I-95 somewhere in VA if I hadn't gotten hit by a truck when the car crapped out.

Oh and then the oldest SD drove that car another 8 miles from our house to a mechanic friend her Dad knows further destroying the engine. He wants to buy it off me and get a new motor to give the car to his wife. The only problem is, I still owe 7 months of payments and I doubt he is going to give me that much for the car. He can get a motor for $5,000. No idea on installation charges.

What a shame. With the demand for used cars being so high, the dealer contacted me last week and was going to give me $9000 for it.
