Oddibe is interesting. Played on '84 USA Olympic team and was a top prospect on the Rangers. Had some rookie hype and decent career overall but didn't quite live up to potential.

Greg Blosser - 50 card 91 UD lot
Dave Staton - 100 card 91 UD lot
Phil Plantier - 100 card 91 UD lot
Brien Taylor - my 1992 Topps Factory Set had his gold card in it, which I think was a $100 card at the time.

Yankees have a long list. Kevin Maas broke my heart and I haven't trusted any since. But Clint Frazier and Mason Williams would have broke my heart but I knew better.

The biggest prospect in the years right before the late 90s Yankees dynasty wasn't Jeter, or Pettitte, or Mariano Rivera— it was Ruben Rivera. On the back of his '96 Finest card, Yanks GM Bob Watson said, "I would trade Rivera for Griffey, straight up."

Billy Beane (the GM) as a Met's prospect, was supposed to be "Don Mattingly with power", this was said during Mattingly's peak

For me Austin Hays. If he wasnt sent down to the minors where he got injured...what could have been.

I remember opening packs and being upset when I got an '85 McGwire Team USA card and not a McDowell.

Somewhere in a basement in New Hampshire, my brother is holding my stash of these ... (as well as a bunch of McGwires too).

Delmon Young was already mentioned, but he was crushing for me. I probably had one of the two or three biggest Delmon collections out there. Unfortunately, he turned out to be an amazingly hateful alcoholic with no capacity for self-improvement—on or off the field.

More recently, Alex Kirilloff. With a healthy wrist, he could’ve been Don Mattingly. Or Larry Walker. Or Freddie Freeman—somewhere in there, as a guy who hits for average and power. Instead, he’s retired at 26.
