Stay away from Goldin unless you want the Goldin Shaft.

Are we going based on actual sales, or what OP says a "private buyer" paid for it?

Im calling PSA tomorrow to see if they can do anything as far as me walking the card into their NJ office. I wouldn’t even know what grading level to use. I’d obviously rather spend less on grading but I probably don’t have a say in the matter. I’ll keep the thread updated for those of you that care or are curious. I have no reason to lie, if it sells I’ll tell you what it sold for. For those of you that asked, I really did send an instagram message, it was actually my first message on instagram. Do i expect to hear back, No I don’t. I actually have no idea who she is nor do I care. I genuinely thought she might be interested or maybe he would. I know some players collect their own cards. I figured no harm in trying. Yes I went a little crazy with my eBay auction, I was very excited and I just wanted people to see the card. I’m still pretty excited. I’ve never owned a card remotely close in value to this. I sell 15-20 dollar cards and on occasion like 600 max so my questions were genuine. I’m glad I was able to entertain everyone and hope you enjoyed your popcorn lol. I really do appreciate all the comments, good and bad. BTW I had no intention of trying to sell on here, I didn’t ask for offers or anything. I just had no idea what I should expect and quite frankly I still don’t. Anywhere from 5,000 to 15,000 based on you pro’s.

Well $2500 puts you at $129 grading <$5000 puts ya at $249 And if you really think < $10000 then $499 If I’m understanding the declared values properly. But hey if you could “walk-in” and have the NJ office grade it, have at it. |

Sorry for the multiple post but I couldn’t get the edit feature to work just right for me…
For my own novice collector knowledge, is it worth getting a 1/1 graded to the cost of $500? In the “unfortunate” roll of the dice that the card receives a 9, has any value been added vs a raw card? Hypothetical the OP does in fact sell on ebay, wouldn’t the high value card have to go thru ebay’s ‘authenticity guarantee’ process? For $500 grading fee, my thought is better be damn near certain it’s a gem. |

It protects the seller against buyer claiming card is damaged but I generally agree with you

You mean like losers bypassing laws in order to make a few bucks ? That’s the type of person I want to deal with on a several thousand dollar card! Any other shady characteristics you want support publicly ?

Also for the reasons that others have stated such as seller protection. Last edited by MiamiMarlinsFan; 07-01-2024 at 09:07 AM. |

A 9 wouldn't be an "Unfortunate" anything in my book.

My question wasn’t so much asking if it hurts the value, rather does it add any value? It’s a 1/1 there is no pop, the OP controls the pop. I got a good answer and understand it guarantees the card arrives as described to a buyer, avoiding any potential claims of wear/tear & negligence. $500 for piece of mind, got it. |

Not saying it will go higher but those are also both from May, people may have wanted to see if he can keep it up or would slip like Imanaga did in June, they may be more confident now that he's still been throwing the heat. People try andsay"14 championships are built into these prices" but continuous good play as a rookie will 100% impact value even when ROY etc is established.

Let’s also keep in mind the Strasberg market. When he went down with Tommy John, it took a huge hit. Hopefully this doesn’t happen to Skenes, but there’s always the chance given the heat he throws. |

multiple times you have told us we are wrong and this is easily a $10k+ card, and now he is the "best pitching prospect since Strasburg."
