Well he has a USMNT rookie card at 25 years old so I think his impact will be limited, but it couldn't hurt. His real life impact as a goal scoring USMNT striker would be more impactful than in the hobby.
I pulled his optic silver prizm which looks quite nice and am holding for the PC. |

Long term? No. I don’t think Pefok is going to be a thing I wish I had sitting in my closet. And if I’m wrong I’ll still be happy because that means that he’s settled in as the key #9 for the next 5 years. |

We definitely consider sealed wax like 2016 Panini Donruss (just ripped a box and came up empty), 2016 Panini Select, 2018 Panini Donruss and some of the recent On-Demand MLS product from Topps. Might be worthy of a segment! Appreciate the tip.

Pefok has earlier cards and stickers. We’ve got a few!

Fer sure. Picked up a cheap Pefok at a show this weekend:
![]() Now, before anyone gets their knickers in a bunch, no one is anointing him the next anything. I'm merely suggesting that he might become the GOAT in a few years. That's it. That's all I'm saying. /s

The more i read from berhalter the more i think they may run a “B” team out at the azteca tomorrow night. It’s crazy what a razors edge qualifying is on again this time around.
All 3 matches are big, but if there is one we have to have, it’s Sunday at home vs Panama. http://www.espnfc.com/united-states-...-aiming-to-win Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Last edited by BRob1; 03-23-2022 at 11:53 PM. |

Yeah I was just talking to somebody’s about that. I would support that strategy in the situation, because it’s so difficult to get three points at the Azteca. We have some injuries and some guys one game away from a yellow card suspension. I think you play for a point in Mexico, then throw everything at the home Panama game. That way, if you play an A team tonight and then trip up against Panama, you’re potentially having to play the A-Team guys three games straight. I think it makes more sense to try for a draw tonight, beat Panama, and then you have the Costa Rica game to fall back on depending on how those go.

Playing the A team tonight would be a very bad idea. With Mckennie out, Gio probably on limited minutes, Aaronson out, Adams on a yellow, Dest out, there's the real risk you burn out your top front 6 chasing the game at altitude, then have dead legs for Panama. Play the B team in a low block, have them press like madmen (it's your time Paul Arriola!) and try to force a mistake/counter, and if it's tied in the last 30 mins bring in some A-teamers to try to scratch out a win/tie. But if they're losing, sit the A-team to keep them fresh. I'd run:
Morris - Jesus - Arriola Busio - Acosta - Roldan Robinson - Whoeverx2 - Cannon Steffen or Horvath Then for Panama: Puli - Pefok - Weah DLT - Adams - Musah Robinson - whoeverx2 - Cannon Steffen or Horvath

Maybe you plan to take him off early for a rest. |

The amount of talent this team has why not go and try to make history tonight. Yeah I know it's the Azteca but have we ever brought this good of a team there, players that know what it takes already and have beaten Mexico. Playing conservative puts us in situations like Trinidad where you are risking everything on one game and something like an unexpected own goal can end everything. Realistically our "B" team should be able to beat a not as good Costa Rica team at home and I feel like there is a lot of nervous energy cause of the pain from last time but there is no reason not to expect at least the 4th spot.

Have we ever won a World Cup Qualifier match IN Mexico? I believe the answer is NO.. Let's change that. GO USA!

That being said, I agree we should put our best healthy 11 on the field tonight and try to win the game. What I would hate to see happen is throw out our B squad, lose, then have Adams get a yellow against Panama and then not have him for Costa Rica, which you likely have to secure at least 1 point.

It's a simple as, if we beat Panama they can't catch us (they aren't technically eliminated, they could still catch Mexico, depending on other results, though its unlikely if they lose to us).
If we get the 3 from Panama, we put Costa Rica in a situation where they need to win all 3 of their matches, and they need us to not take a point from Mexico, to pass us. I unfortunately have no faith in this team to go out and win a must win match, but the most straight forward scenario is to put our best foot forward against Panama. Tonight we root for Honduras and Canada. Last edited by BRob1; 03-24-2022 at 10:30 AM. |

Puli - Jesus - Weah
Acosta - Musah Adams Robinson - Zimm - Robinson - Yedlin I think this is how they start. Adams is the one that's sketch to me right now because of the yellow situation and his importance for Sunday. I think this gives some flexibility... you could play Adams/Acosta more in a 2-in-the-hole formation if we were going to sit back and then counter. Or Acosta could be more of a McKennie. Acosta also needs to be in I think because set pieces will decide the game for us. His delivery has been great. If things look not great you can pull Puli and Weah and toss Arriola and Morris in there. Gio's safe for 30 I'm sure so that gives us some additional options (pull out Adams, shift Acosta, have Gio with Musah or another sub like LDLT). Realistic prediction: 1-1 with Jesus sneaking a goal in early for the USA and we hold on for a tie and a point. Hopeful prediction: 3-1 Zimmerman, Pulisic, Ferreira with goals |

Just updating the table, I believe now if we take 3 pts from Panama we are ESSENTIALLY in.
The 3 would eliminate panama from passing us, and would put costa rica in a position where they need to win Sunday, then also beat us in the last match, which would put them level with us on points. We’re currently 7 goals ahead on GD, so no chance they catch us in that scenario. So great result at the azteca, and let’s get the 3 on Sunday. Great decision to play for the win, you can’t do anything but play the games in front of you. I was on the fence, but in hindsight they played it right. The mystique of the Azteca is cracked, even if we still haven’t won there. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
