This sounds like a literal example of going to the dollar store and, seeing that the prices are too expensive, taking your chances on a mystery box in the clearance aisle. Maybe you find a nice bulk lot of $2 sponges in your box, but it's hard to complain if all you get is expired deviled ham and a half-torn Dora the Explorer coloring book. The $ is for the thrill of the unknown and pack busting, not in value.

3/5 of my repack boxes were mostly junk era I think. One of the $30 value ones had 4 modern packs showing and I think one of the smaller ones had a 2008 Upper Deck X pack. There was however at least one 2006 jumbo pack in each one. I actually ended up with 11 of those packs and they were fun to open last night. Got 4 or 5 golds and some inserts I can trade with people, plus I can start on building those base sets.

I don't think anyone is expecting big hits, but it's still disappointing to see early people hitting jumbo packs of things like Lineage, Opening Day, Heritage, Upper Deck, etc while later waves are mostly the 2006 Topps so far as jumbo packs and maybe a few other modern packs sprinkled in. Someone's judgement of if it's worth it might be different if they're basing their purchase off the early waves opposed to the wave they're buying in. It does really seem like the variety is going down as time goes on.

That said, I'm not up in arms over my $100 purchase. Like I said, the 2006 jumbos were entertaining, and I haven't opened the dollar store packs yet, so could still be some nice rookies in there. I'd just warn people to base their expectations off the latest waves, not what was posted earlier in the thread.

Also, I noticed that a lot of the loose packs seem like they originated in the repack boxes. (For instance, I had loose packs of 1989 Donruss, 1990 Fleer, and the 2006 Jumbos, all of which were also plentiful in the repack boxes. I know 1989 Donruss and 1990 Fleer could come from anywhere, but how often do you see 2006 Topps Jumbo packs?) I'm not much for conspiracy theories, but I wonder how many of the repack boxes they opened to distribute, and maybe if they cherry picked some of the packs out of those. Might have been a better experience if those boxes had been left intact.

This sooooo much this , I don't wanna come off as a whiner but i did see some crazy good stuff early on that I clearly didn't get and was just sharing my 2 cents with the forum. I think it's still worthwhile for some , but for those that are more modern collectors looking for anything solid there's much better options.

That's pretty solid - I wish there'd been a few update packs in my dollar store packs.

My 5-box order was delivered today. The 250 packs were in one box. I haven't tallied the exact results, but here's the rough breakdown.

(10) Fairfield repack boxes with 10 packs in each box
Rest were loose packs and mostly 2015-2017 of the dollar store packs. A few 2006, 2008, 2010 Opening Day packs non-dollar store.

I'll have a better breakdown tonight.

Those Fairfield packs might be a good value. They normally use hobby packs.

So are we assuming that these packs are from the result of breakers / hobby shops opening boxes, getting the box hit and then dumping the rest of the packs into some deal like this?

2 lots

50 dollar store packs.

3 10 pack boxes and one 20 pack box

If I didn't know better I think the boxes may have been searched for any packs of value.
They were completely devoid of any value almost every pack was junk wax from the late 80's and early 90's, not one hobby pack but what makes me think boxes were searched, the 10 packs boxes had several duplicate packs.

I just started opening my dollar store packs starting with the 2015 S1 and a gold Adam Eaton came out. Is that supposed to be possible? I thought these things were strictly base cards.

Tend to agree with OP on searched repack boxes. Several of my ten appeared tampered with. One was definitely resealed. So many duplicate packs in them.

My full results, plus video. Personally, my five bundles I give a grade of A. However, I give that with a BUYER BEWARE warning.

These are pretty fun to break (searched or not...I don't really care). It brought me back down memory lane (especially the 1988, 1989, 1990ish packs):

Here are my "better" pulls from 5 lots:

2017 Fleer Ultra Ryan Braun RC
1989 Donruss Alex Madrid
1989 Donruss Gary Sheffield RC
1998 Score Tom Glavine RC
2017 Update Luke Voit RC (looks gem)
2017 Series 1 Aaron Judge RC (looks gem)
2017 Series 2 Matt Olson RC
2017 Update Cody Bellinger Debut RC
2017 Update Ian Happ RC
2017 Update Matt Chapman RC
2017 Update Aaron Judge Debut RC
2017 Update Cody Bellinger RC
2017 Series 1 Andrew Benintendi RC
2017 Series 1 Andrew Bregman RC
2015 Series 1 Joc Pederson RC

All in all, it was a fun break!
