20 minutes for a page turn?
Never going to catch the Acuna thread acting like this. Feels like a mid summer Acuna slump.

I received a shipment of post Baller Trout cards today. All were in Ultra Pro mags.

I've been wrong before, but I really don't see another card reaching Shore Griffey. A lot of people just in it for the flip are going to be out going forward in terms of buying from Topps.

Here's a thought...

Thomas Don C sells for $500 this weekend after the Ripken Don C PR is released Friday at 50-75k making the Frank seem tiny in comparison...

Who is with me?

Rather than worry about the ups and downs on the market, rather than making sure I set aside $7K of my hobby money to make sure I complete it, I’ll just pick it up down the line.

I’ve yet to see a set in the hobby that I couldn’t pick up cheaper in total than buying the sum of the parts individually.

As it stands there are a total of 1065 total sets that could potentially be made (honestly lower than I thought when the product was announced). I’m confident the set will be worth less than MSRP in 5 years.

If it’s like any of the other print to demand sets, the money makers will have bought multiple to free ride sets. They’ll have made their money during the process and be less concerned about making top-dollar on the set (my LCS is ordering in batches of 20 and has done this with every print on demand set since eTopps). They’ll be available.

Essentially, I didn’t want to commit $7K from the jump. If I’m wrong and have to buy a set for $10K down the road that’s alright as well. I doubt I’ll have to though. I suspect most cards from here on out will have negative equity on the set as a whole, so even if the Ermsy Torut is “x” over MSRP, the vast majority will sell for less than MSRP long term and bring the sum of the parts down.

I could be wrong. I would have bet my life that no card from this set would have reached $1K, let alone multiple cards surpassing that and some shooting over $1K like it’s nothing. I’ve been wrong a bunch in my life.
This is fascinating if its not satire.

I think the appeal of the Don C run is he is the most attainable at cost. His first card was released so late that other artists had put out 2 or 3 before him.

For someone starting late I think Don C would be a great artist to collect the entire set of.

I still think there will be a premium at the end of this for doing the work that others were too lazy to do.

You take a picture of a complete set in a great looking case and throw it on eBay I think someone pays good money for it

The market should use this as a basis for price

I was watching that one listing for $185 (9 available). I blinked and that was gone along with everything else up to $250.
