Yeah I checked the cards to see if they looked fake. They look legit enough, and I agree they are all over priced, big time.

The price of the fakes was one of the big giveaways. This guy knows his stuff and would not be giving away 1/1s of top 5 characters for the price of a sealed case.

Thought the same thing…big top 5 character 1/1s for less than 10k, even less than 5k I think in some cases? Not a chance.

Weird situation and just not adding up. Either 1) the guy sold them unknowingly and was clueless about the cards (fakes were blatantly bad) and clueless about their values (somehow)…or 2)shenanigans involved. Not sure what other option there is.

Hobby at large just seems to forget about it, and people continue to buy from the seller (big seller in marvel cards).

Hey first time posting here… (sort of…I originally posted this on the wrong thread haha)
I have spent probably 2 weeks slowly reading this entire thread….so much to absorb!!
First and foremost a big thanks to all here who have put so much of their time into breaking down the cards and other analyses. (A particular thanks to Dyna! So much knowledge!)
Mostly a comic collector here, my brother bought me a blaster for my bday in June and soon I was sucked in. About a month later I was at a local comic shop and they had a hobby box which I picked up. I know this is frustrating to hear (as previously read) but I did open a loaded box which has been discussed. Inside was an emerald surge, blue PMG, a wood, pink laser and lower pulls. Confirms that there are boxes with two huge hits.
Since I have bought one more hobby box (red prism and pink laser in that box) and probably about 7 or 8 blasters now. Nothing quite as spectacular as that first hobby box (I would never assume to get such a pull again)
Personally am only looking to collect clear cuts (only 1 away), lenticular (about half collected), and recently decided red prisms (lol only 2) haha (they look too nice to not have a set).

That’s great- looking forward to the progress updates with those sets (and pics!)

This set has provided me with endless collecting basically…so many parallel sets to go for, but it’s been lots of fun.

It’s also nice to see someone opening blasters. Is anyone else still opening blasters? I feel like the purple crystal variant /25’s have been drying up, and I think it’s because so little blasters now being opened. What did we ever decide the vc’s fall, maybe 1:30 or 1:40 boxes? Any more data on that?

Welcome to the thread of lost marvel collectors lol. That first box was crazy! What characters are the emerald surge and blue pmg?

Also wanted to ask if you have any Dormammu #d you would be willing to trade? I’m trying to put the rainbow together, and I have several red prism I can put in to help get your set going.

I think it’s 1 per 3-4 cases, 60-80 boxes is what the consensus is. I don’t see blasters in retail stores any more, so I haven’t bought any in months.

Thanks for the welcome
My pulls were Emerald Surge Spider-Man (1 of 10) and Wonder Man blue PMG (50 of 50)
I’ll try to get some pics posted once I figure out how to do so on here
Sorry I have no Dormammu numbered! I’ll check with my brother if he has any and let you know.

Yeah too many parallels lol but a good send off before losing the marvel license. Seems like the longer I look at these cards the more parallel sets I want. Evil! Lol

Any particular favourite parallels? I started with wanting Clear cuts (CC) and moved into lenticulars when I realized how easy the CC were to acquire. I liked how both of these sets altered the cards. Red prisms(RP) I just started to love the effect when I saw one and decided to do the base in RPs as it shows off the red the best. Hoping I don’t get sucked into other sets (without trying I already have a large portion of the canvas and blue traxx…assuming I’m not alone)

Spidey is a big card. Not Green PMG big, but big. Don't sell yourself short if you decide to move it. Very large BIN with a best offer option, if you are into fielding ridiculously low offers via people trying to make money off you

Congrats again and welcome!

That’s a HUGE card. I’d get it graded, whether you want to move it or not, just to lock in the grade and remove the chance of anything happening to it. An emerald surge VC is up for auction right now and should give you an idea of value, but I think yours being base instead of VC and Alpha should add a pretty decent premium

I had no idea what I had pulled. Last set I bought was 1995 Metal…still in the era of almost a full set with every box. My brother being into sports cards non-stop since the 80s lost it when I pulled it haha He advised me on grading it so I submitted it early August.
Any bother getting the blue PMG graded? I like how it’s number 50 of 50. My brother said he didn’t think it was worth sending it in.

First off, as others said…that Spidey emerald is a massive card- congrats! Many people have been waiting for even one emerald Spidey to surface, can’t say I’ve seen one surface yet. And the alpha 01/10 makes it that much more special.

It’s so hard to choose a fav parallel…the gold seismics are way up there for me, and like you I prefer the “regular” vs variant cover since it shows off the solid color more. Another favorite is the purple crystal VCs ( the VCs because they’re rare compared to the regular purples which are much more common).

Out of the more doable sets- lenticular, holofoil, mini-boxes, or regular purple crystal. Those shouldn’t break the bank *that* much, yet are still challenges to complete.

After holding some more in hand, the Red PMGs are up there in my favs from a pure aesthetic perspective…maybe even my fav…the red shiny foil really pops.

(So I kinda cheated and gave like 7 answers lol…so much to collect in this).

Man hopefully it’s not quite 1:4 cases. I think personally I’m around 2 vc’s pulled in 4 cases + a few loosies. Maybe that was good luck or avg luck..dunno.

I debated starting to go back to ripping blasters for my purple vc set (probably the worst way ever to go about making that set)…but if they’re so rare I probably won’t.

Not a shabby card at all. The Spidey emerald I agree is a no-brainer grade that. A PMG like this can go either way…one problem with PMGs in this set is they rarely ever get 10s…and anything < 10 probably isn’t gonna be that lucrative. Check the back- many of these PMGs have foil streaking or edge chipping etc on the back. If it was a Spider-Man, Wolverine, Venom, Surfer PMG…sure it’d be with grading regardless. Wonder Man…I might just keep raw. It’s neat you got an alpha 01/10 and omega 50/50 in one box.

Wasn't the Mojo PMG gold sold for $2,000-$3000 a few months back? Guess now we know who bought it at that high of a price tag, and now he wants that much for the card in a slab?

Great card and even better luck. Wow, I don't think I have ever been that lucky in any products that I have opened.

Pricing for this set's PMG can be all over the place, so I don't think it's a good idea to slab that PMG blue. Recently, I picked up this Rogue PMG blue PSA 9 for around $300, so who knows how high or low it can get. IMG_0497

Thanks! Will just keep it raw. Appreciate the advice!

Checked the back of Wonder Man and there seems to be some streak line across one side. See what you mean.

Yea I’d like to say most of those recently listed golden treasures sold in the 1.5-3k range or so. Granted I doubt they will sell for near those new asking prices.

That’s a great deal for that. To give you an idea…I just paid more for a raw Rogue PMG red…ha! So either you got a fantastic deal or I paid too much for mine…probably a little bit of both.

I will say there is a bit of set collecting bias affecting the PMG prices. Even though the blues are only half the reds, /50 vs /100…there’s this weird situation where reds can sell at almost the prices of blues, sometimes even about even with them, because there’s more people actually attempting the red set vs not many going for a blue set due to difficulty. (Similar phenomenon with recent MM sets where tier 4 base /99 can go for more than /50 blues or comparable to /25 emeralds). Something I’ve noticed…but still a blue should outsell a red you’d think, so you got a great deal.

Beautiful card btw. PMGs are definitely some of my favs in the set

I’ve been at 99/100 for the kaleidoscopes for some time now. I just needed one more dang card.

Tonight I picked up the last piece- this Rogue. The set is finally finished, hallelujah! Can finally be done with it.

Congratulations Dyna! That has to be the most limited insert barring the green PMG and Emerald Surge cards. And maybe the Lava.

That's an amazing achievement.

Wow! congrats! Amazing set you have there. Wouldn’t mind tracking down a single or two of each parallel over time just so I can experience each effect. (Might need to pass on the 1 of 1s lol)

For those who have completed the canvas, leather, and wood sets, are there are any cards that pop with those effects? Only asking as I get the sense the overall demand is lower for these sets.

Congrats on the pull! That would be a keeper for me. I'm not really a grader but would consider it if you plan to sell.
