Imagine putting Ohtani on the Celebracion checklist and not using a Kabuto helmet image. So lazy

Hmm, if he doesn't like picking up after his dog, that would make sf more likely lol

Looking forward to the first DH-only MVP in 2024. Half joke, but not really. 60 homers doesn't feel ridiculous anymore with full health, focus, and plate appearances. Plus fresher legs to swipe a few more bags.

ESPN’s Jeff Passan in reviewing Ohani’s priority landing spots reported that Ohtani “loves visiting Boston and has a fondness for Fenway Park”

Also, not really talked about but Sho mentioned that this recovery from surgery is more smooth than the first time around. Pretty encouraging.

Please keep in mind that guys like him, heyman, etc all just make #@#@#@#@ up. They have zero inside info when it comes to ohtani so they're going to take any comment he's made over the last few seasons and use it as a clue as to where he might be going.

As tight as Ohtani's people are keeping his FA talks, I don't think anyone will get a "scoop" before Ohtani's people announce the deal themselves.

That would be awesome if the Sox signed him...imagine the HR count just at Fenway!

Ya! Apparently if he goes east, it’s his priority destination

If he really wants to win I can't see him going to Boston. Not that they haven't won, but its also a team that traded Mookie Betts. Boston has been run more like a franchise that goes on run and then tears it all down to save luxury tax money. That's not going to work if you're giving Ohtani 40m+ a year.

I don't even know why people think he'd sign with Boston. Just because he's had some amazing games there, that doesn't mean anything. He wouldn't sign there just because of Yoshida, New Balance or if they gave him the most money. Even with Ohtani, the Red Sox aren't better than any team in the AL East. They were barely better than the Angels this year and half of the Angels lineup got injured at one point during the season which completely derailed that team.

Bottom line nobody here and nobody in the media has any idea what he wants. We just have to all wait and see.

i think it's the Rangers, if they go all in on Shohei.

If they show Shohei that they really, really want him,
i don't think he has any reason to spurn them.

If he wants to win in 2024, he'll sign with the Dodgers.

The only reason against the rangers is that they are a division rival and Shohei is a gentleman lol

If he wants to win over anything else, he needs to go the kd route and sign with either Texas, Atl, Hou, or LAD. Even though two of them got eliminated early, they're the deepest teams.

There's going to be so much fake information throughout this process to generate clicks and reactions. Trust no-one!

I just saw this info in a Yahoo article about Shohei:

"Since the start of 2021, he has …

stepped into the batter’s box 1,904 times in 447 games with a .277 AVG, 124 homers (fourth in MLB) and a 161 OPS+ (fourth in MLB, min 1,000 PA).

pitched 428 1/3 innings over 74 starts, with a 2.84 ERA (third in MLB, min. 400 innings), 151 ERA+ (second in MLB) and 542 strikeouts (14th in MLB).

Either line would equate to a superstar. Emanating from the same physical being, they equate to a generation-demarcating phenomenon."

This is an incredible three year span! I don't think any of us would have thought something was possible from one person, ever!

He wants to be on a team that can win it all.

He's going to choose from:

Rangers, Braves, Dodgers......maybe Orioles?

What other teams are built to challenge 2024-2030?

The only reason I put the Orioles on there is because they have so much young talent in their system that could be traded. I very much doubt they are being considered.

Why would he go to teams in the middle of the pack if his emphasis is to win it all?

Atlanta is not getting thrown around in the discussion very much, but it would make a ton of sense for him to go there. They have a ton of talent locked up long term on extremely team friendly deals. They also need a guy to go with Strider at the top of the rotation. Their lineup with Ohtani in it would almost be unfair.

Atlanta is certainly not known for making the big splashes in free agency though.

Exactly. It almost makes too much sense. He'd be an unbelievable complement to a young, strong lineup and a lot of powerful, efficient bats.

Think about the hitters you're facing with Ohtani added. Even if Ohtani is relegated to bullpen work in 2026 and beyond, he stills carries one of the best bats we've seen.

Dodgers make a lot of sense as well if the reports of him wanting to stay on the West coast are true.
