Higashioka I feel is still a serviceable backup for somebody. I get Austin Wells is the projected future at Catcher but so was Jesus Montero. You are going to need a veteran backup who can fill in from time to time.

Prospects are always a risk though. Higgy is a good backup but is getting to the end of his control years. No need to pay him when you have a 1st rounder who showed pop and defense at a much cheaper rate. Trevino was good and at best passes the torch to Wells or at worst l, holds the spot down for the next guy.

Also Wells provides the platoon split that higgy doesn't with Trevino. Can't carry 4 catchers so moving higgy and/or rortvedt is the right call in my opinion.

They would do well to not only hire a pitching coach from one of those teams, but also hitting coach and strength and conditioning coach. Also please find a new team doctor that can properly diagnose concussions.

Pitching isn't the problem. Rangers and Dbacks were 18 and 20 in league ERA. Yankees can't hit. But we have the power of the Greek gods in Zelus Analytics working with us now, they can't miss this simple concept, can they?
