So I binged Severance this weekend. No idea what the show is supposed to be about, but couldn't stop watching.

I also caught up on Silo (two episodes). I really liked the last episode, but not the previous so much. I still think expanding the first book into two seasons is a mistake.

Black Mirror Season 6 comes out tomorrow, I've been waiting on this one for awhile! Previews look good, but that can always be deceiving. I wasn't a huge fan of Season 5, hoping this is more like the earlier seasons.

SWAT
Thought I wouldn't really like it and gave it a Netflix try. It's very well done. Some is ridiculous (Sniper shot from a helicopter) but some characters are amazingly well done -- even the one episode guests.

The school shooting episode (season 2) has both a positive ending and a rip you apart piece of the storyline afterward.

I only watch TV to have my emotions toyed with --- this show does it well.

I finally watched the Mandalorian. Well, 2 seasons of it. Meh. I keep trying to get into Star Wars but it’s not for me.

I like it except for one thing.

Shemar Moore can be utterly ridiculous when he keeps saying... "I got you girl" like 3-4 times an episode. Enough already. We get it Shemar. You think you are really something.

I'm happy Black Mirror is finally back!

I will probably binge it over the next two days.

Since my last post I've checked off a couple shows.

The first was a long time coming in The Handmaid's Tale's 5th season. I liked it a lot. Elisabeth Moss is so good. I'd give her another Emmy for this role since she only won once for playing June. Doubt it happens this year (and actually I'd much prefer Sarah Snook won for her last shot at winning an Emmy for her role in Succession) but maybe she can get a farewell hug for Season 6? Yvonne Strahovski also was very good. Doubt she will get in this incredibly stacked Drama Supporting Actress category this year at the Emmys but I'd be thrilled to see her rejoin the list of nominees. Same for Bradley Whitford.

From one Elisabeth to another. Just switch the 's' to a 'z.' The HBO mini-series Love and Death staring Elizabeth Olson was what I watched after The Handmaid's Tale's 5th season. This was only 7 episodes so it went by relatively fast. I never heard of this case but it was crazy.. Some good performances in it besides Olson too like Tom Pelphrey, who was snubbed of an Emmy for Ozark so hopefully at least gets nominated for at the Emmys for Mini-Series/TV Movie Supporting Actor, and Lily Rabe who is good in everything I've seen her in. Elizabeth could win the Emmy for Mini-Series/TV Movie Lead Actress but this category seems up in the air. Ali Wong from Beef and Dominque Fishback from Swarm also turned in amazing work and I've not even seen all the main contenders yet.

I also finally finished the last two episodes of the FX on Hulu mini-series Fleishman is in Trouble. I got side tracked but I finished it. Episode 7 was Claire Danes' episode and she could win Mini-Series/TV Supporting Actress. I liked the show overall.

I was going to continue checking off shows who likely will show up in the mini-series races at the Emmys that I still need to watch (White House Plumbers and Black Bird especially) but decided to pivot to a guilty pleasure. Don't judge too harshly but I actually like some shows that cater to younger demographics... The show is Never Have I Ever and I didn't realize the fourth and final season came out a week or so ago. So I had to finish that show up before I got spoiled. It was a very fast fun binge so I'm kinda sad it is over.

So it seems after Black Mirror I'll try and check off White House Plumbers and Black Bird. Thankfully they are not too long at only 5 and 6 episodes respectively.

Just finished For All Mankind S1
4 seasons total, so far

Not bad. I will keep going into S2 and beyond if I still like it.

I liked the originality of it being an alternate universe story of the 1960's space race where the USSR actually beat the USA to the Moon.

But whoever wrote it certainly had some, shall we say, woke social justice sentiment? It's like they wrote it from a point of view that MeToo, BLM, LGTBQ, etc and all that was happening in 1960. It's a little bizarre but I guess whatever. It's an alternate universe. I guess anything can happen.

Season 2 is where For All Mankind really takes off. The pacing of the series is just fantastic.

I have watched the first three Black Mirror episodes so far. I liked the first episode but episodes two and three were average at best. One of my favorite shows and always has its hits and misses each season but so far this season has been mainly misses.

Currently on "The Rookie" it can be downright cheesy at times but it fills a void that I desire, easy to watch and entertaining enough. I have enough self awareness to know that I am a simpleton when it comes to TV.

Well-made, as usual, but two of them have supernatural elements, which I'd hoped the show would have continued avoiding. I'm thinking the creator, Brooker, wanted to use a couple of these to homage horror movies that captured his fancy when he was a kid. (I'd mention which ones, but that would be in the spoiler area this early one, since the episodes just dropped.). Due to the purists, those episodes will probably be referred to as "Red Mirrors" which is what the final episode of Season 5, "Demon 79" is subtitled in the opening credits.

Covid-delays were part of it surely, but this batch was 4 years in the making. I'm thinking that except for occasional one-off specials or movie, this could be the end of the line for the series as far as full-seasons go. British TV creators tend to be more conscious than US creators about not running things absolutely into the ground, although I suspect after the last two seasons, there will be plenty who feel that's already happened here. I give this season a B-grade overal. The first four (if "Bandersnatch" is counted in Season 4) I would give A-grades.

That's not new for the creator of "For All Mankind", Ronald D. Moore. He did the reboot of "Battlestar Galactica" for the Sci-Fi Channel about 20 years ago. On it, the hotshot pilot who was played by Dirk Benedict in the original was now played by Katee Sackhoff who, unlike Dirk, was not a dude. Forward thinking creators tend to put out forward thinking entertainment, as it turns out.

Season 3 was still pretty good, but not quite to the level of Seasons 1 & 2. Season 4 premieres later this year.

I finished Black Mirror Season 6 yesterday.

It was underwhelming overall sadly.

Better than the awful Season 5 but still nowhere near the first 4 seasons.

I'll still watch a potential S7 and am interested in a potential Red Mirror spin-off series since I did like the final episode probably the most.

I watched all 4 episodes of Burden of Proof on Max today. Very well done documentary, but the ending falls a bit flat.

Has anyone watched the Apple mini-series Extrapolations and if so how was it?

I heard from my dad he liked it. It was on my long list to watch but I was trying to prioritize shows that have better Emmy chances. I doubt it gets many major ones but I think I'm going to start it next.

Poor Black Bird, White House Plumbers, and Dead to Me Season 3 will have to wait longer for me to get around to them.

I also still need to see Andor. I heard great stuff just haven't had time. It apparently may be in the top 8 for Best Drama Series and in the top 6 for Best Drama Actor so maybe I need to bump that up in the order of stuff I watch?

I watched Reacher season 1 this weekend. Really solid. The dude that plays Reacher has really come a long way acting wise. He was pretty terrible in Smallville as Aquaman, but really decent here.

When actors find their role of a lifetime it works. Ritchson is perfect for Reacher. Makes Cruise look like a peewee.

Really good for many years. Watched it religiously. Found the series final episode was a complete letdown. Not on a "Lost" level but pretty bad IMHO.

I watched Jury Duty on Prime (also on FreeVee) because I got selected for jury duty that was supposed to start today, but the case got settled so yay me! One normal guy was selected for jury duty but everyone else involved were actors (similar to the Joe Schmo Show). Some good belly laughs throughout so if you're bored,I'd definitely check it out.

Season 2 of "The Bear", all 10 episodes, is on Hulu now.
I've seen them, and they pack another punch, while setting up well for Season 3.

For those who don't know the show, it's the story of a potential GOAT level young restaurant chef who returns to Chicago to take over a family sandwich shop when his older brother who ran it commits suicide.

The lead actor, Jeremy Allen White (long of "Shameless") already won Golden Globe for his work on Season 1, and will be up for the Emmy when nominations are announced next week, along with I'm sure what will be plenty of other nods for the show.

The acting/writing in both seasons is next level, with guest spots in year 2 from Bob Odenkirk, Jon Bernthal (again), John Mulaney, Sarah Paulson, and Will Poulter in addition to the terrific returning main cast. There's a strong chance Jamie Lee Curtis will be Emmy nominated for season 2 next year. She was simply incredible in some inspired casting here, following her Oscar winning performance in "Everything Everywhere All At Once".

Loved Shameless and his acting in the show. havent watched the new season yet, but last season was really good.

Been binge watching Suits for the last few weeks. Fun show with lots of cameos and Donna.
