I don't doubt it. In the same vein that I think those booklet cards can look great, they don't feel like pure baseball cards to me and I'd never buy them. The Transcendent just feels more like a gimmicky(maybe too strong a word) "piece"

As someone that owns and has graded 10+ icons 10s, they are clumsy hunks of metal in a toploader or even a one-touch. After you slab them, they morph into an attractive collectible that whispers high-end. Gotta slab them.

Icons are lovely...even though I was never privileged to hold a ten, mr multi-ten.

I agree that they look brilliant in slabs. I have some transcendent framed cards in one-touches that look great too. But yeah, the slabs are sick.

If last night was truly the Angels' final game, then I guess that means Ohtani makes history once again by securing his spot as the league leader in home runs. A starting pitcher leading the league in home runs!

Not just the AL leader in HR (44) but also touched bases (325) and OBP (.412).

But also the MLB leader in SLG (.654), OPS (1.066!) and OPS+ (184)

then you get to add the 132 IP, 3.14 ERA, 167 SO, 10 W as the team Ace

Missed the last month to end at 10.1 bWAR, another GOAT-like season from Shotime and he still hasn't hit his ceiling!!

Let us not forget how special this man is to baseball

They just don't give out 10s anymore for these cards . An impossible card to gem if the grader isn't lenient on the surface.

Any big winners from the Gold Elite auction this past week? I wasn't able to place any bids due to travel timezones but I hope some people here got some DEALS.

There were some definite kicks to the nuts for some sellers submitting pre-injury. The Sapphire is one particular card I did not expect to go under 20. I can tell you that if it weren't 4am local time, I would have at least sent it above that mark. Too much wine . That said, I'm relieved that prices are normalizing. Close to $100 for the TC red is still pretty strong - as a main-set low # auto, that's my barometer for the market.

I sold a pretty big Ohtani via Goldin last night that I submitted pre-injury. I got hosed. It is what it is, but it stings a bit. Great time to buy I suppose.

I think you subbed it post-UCL tear but before being ruled out for season. But yeah, a bad time to list but I'm pretty sure you came up, so can't be mad at a profit

For sure I'm up on the card (thousands of percents haha). I subbed post UCL, pre-oblique.

I doubt that card goes over 50k pre-injury. It's not like super high end stuff is off 80% as a near 100k valuation would imply. I'm thrilled with how low it went, will add one one day in the future. #1 on the wantlist

The straight-red 150 did right under 40, so probably 30 if I had to guess. pre-injury. That said, it takes just two a..hats to bid it over 50 and there were a lot of a..hats out there prior to the gatorade cooler being turned upside down.

Yup that was my guess too when this came up a few months ago. Sapphire just doesn't have as much love as you'd think when you're in the Blowout bubble. Substantial but not the end all be all

Just completed the 2022 Topps Japan Edition 220 rainbow! I wish it was the batting image but I'll take what I can get.

Well that's interesting, because I've always looked at the sun on the flag, and that one does look centered. But it's like the type is all offset from the flag, which seems odd.

Very nice. I blinked at the platinum 1/1 and someone stole it. Glad it was you!

The gold parallels are type centered (flag off-center). The Reds and Red/Golds I've seen are all somewhere in between. Not sure which style I prefer to be honest.
