Ask 2019 me who sold a raw 2011 Update at a show for $250 after having stumbled upon a copy at an antique mall for $25 back in fall 2018, thinking there's no way a base card like this from a still-pretty-heavily-printed product like Topps Update can really go for that much more, so may as well flip it now?

(Fortunately I still have the one in my Update set, and that one ain't going anywhere!)

Do you believe Trout can avoid a hobby decline as his stats decline after the next few years? Do you believe Tatis is only getting started and will easily live up to his contract?

Just picked up a 2011 Bowman Sterling PSA 10. Beautiful card and it’s criminally undervalued especially since it’s low POP.

I would pick the Sapphire Tatis over the Trout Update simply because I already own Trout's 2011 Bowman Chrome Refractor and 2011 Bowman Chrome Draft Purple Refractor RC's. BUT! If I didn't already own either of the those Trout RC's then I would easily side with rather having the Trout Update RC instead (over the Tatis Sapphire RC).

If he plays well... they will creep towards $7K.

If he starts off hot.... they will hit $8K again easily.

People who think it will be worth more later on or the new people who joined the hobby recently who want the card and that just happens to be the going price. I'd be a little surprised if it dropped to 3k during the season. Trout tends to be pretty consistent. So I'd imagine the price will plateau around some price during the season too until he either is on the path to mvp or isn't. Assuming Angels don't make playoffs. 7k before 3k and probably even 4k.

They only got up to $8k because market manipulation. Before that they were slowing creeping up. They were right at $4k before they took off... and since have dropped all the way down to $4500... but slowly are starting to creep back up to $5k. So looks like they are on the way up, not down.

That said, there have been some weird sales the last two days, many have already been relisted... so I'm wondering if someone is trying to manipulate again.

If you look at the parallels, those have still held their value fairly well, with a gold just selling at auction for around $30k.
