This total reminds me of etopps and I went hard in on that ... and that's why I stayed away from this initially (and the fact I saw the title of this message thread early on and that dissuaded me, not blaming!)

Boy did I miss the boat and the craziness that has ensued has definitely eclipsed etopps by leaps and bounds.

I haven't had time to reach 650 pages of responses but I couldn't believe there are pre-sells on ebay right now for cards that haven't even been released. Not to mention one of the artists is charging $5 for a sneak peak. Truly amazing.

I stopped selling cards during the past several months because prices appeared to be going down. My example: won a Kobe auto here on a group break and it was selling for around $600 pre-COVID-19 and more like $400-$450 these days.

Also don't have a supportive spouse when it comes to the hobby, but I proposed a Project 2020 experiment to her this afternoon. Buy $100 worth of Project 2020 cards and then sell them to see what kind of profit can be earned. Granted, my results would have been amazing several weeks ago, but I didn't see the potential (mostly because I got burned with etopps, hey at least I have a LeBron RC).

Mind you, I'm half collector, half-seller but I definitely would like to keep a couple of the nicer looking cards for my collection. This edition/release is definitely one for the books.

How do you know he hasn’t already? He could have been buying direct all along and buying up on the secondary market. Why would he hype something that he already hasn’t manipulated the market on? Then when you have a strong position you bring others in to sell your inventory to. I doubt he cares about any future releases.

The print runs are going to be all over the place from here on out. Probably a 30k floor and who knows for the ceiling. We still have more than 300 cards to go and it's gonna be a rollercoaster.

They won't be "official" Project 2020 cards, but they're gonna have to be worth something.

Don't know for sure what you're getting but if they are somehow sealed like boxes where you can sell them as sealed they gotta be worth over 1k a piece.

Predictions are silly until we have a little more data. Give it a week to see the print runs post this 100k Shore Griffey and 60k Ryan.

If 60k is the new baseline... that's huge for all previous cards. They should theoretically rise, plateau and hold value...with potential for another up.

10k print runs seem small now.

Bad news for anyone who thinks this is a smart investment going forward. If you're buying from this point on you should be collecting not investing. You have to assume 80% of people who got in did so thinking they were getting in on the action. There's gonna be 10,000 Shore Griffey listings incoming....

Obv nothing is certain... we'll know a lot more when we have more data in a week.
