BC1 as in a base chrome rookie?
It could be halved another several times and still be wildly overpriced IMO
The market is the market but I have a hard time believing any sane collector needs that card at those prices.

He's going to be a bargain in the offseason, just buy him before he gets to the Dodgers.

Felt the same regarding the Bowman Chrome that I did with when Luka’s PSA10 base prism was like 1200.

As they should, they are 6 year old raw base cards after all.

How's his Bowman autos doing?

Bad. I commissioned a Bowman gold auto to Goldin 2 weeks before his UCL tear and I'm gonna pay for it with a sale at half price I'm sure. Those who are wanting cheap higher end Ohtanis will be busy over the next 3 months.

Bad is relative. It is still WAY higher than the beginning of the season. This is where the low cost basis long-term guys are calmly holding while everyone else runs around like their hair is on fire.

At some point in the next few years this will happen again and the suckers will line up like it never happened. This is the second time this exact trend has played out (pumped BC base 1 drops to 1/3 value in 2021).

Somehow people thought it was going to be different this time around. The helium for this card was suspect and unnatural to begin with, relative to other cards of similar print runs. I don't care if he is batting. You could have sold 3 PSA 10s of this base card 45 days ago and purchased an Ohtani Topps Chrome RC Auto in 9.5 Gem MT today. Think about it.

Does anyone remember what the difference was in the Black and Blue in 2018 Update? I love this Ohtani Legends In The Making rookie and it seems cheap but wondering if there are still a ton of ungraded out there.

Blue and Black are both unnumbered parallels to the base LITM. Per Cardboard Connection, the parallels are:
PARALLEL CARDS: Blue, Black, Gold #/50, Red #/10, Platinum 1/1

On the OTHER inserts, black was to /299 and blue was unnumbered but per the odds we knew they were to 600. On LiTM, they're both unnumbered and unfortunately I don't have the data to try to estimate print runs for either (though definitely way above those numbers). I can, however, say that there should still be twice as many blue as black, since that was consistent in the odds on every format I could find.

I will say that it's funny and sad watching bag holders on social media that bought at peak, unable to cope with the new values and delusionally listing cards for July prices. They need to watch some Suze Orman selfhelp videos.

The same Ohtani /25 auto I sold for over $2.3k at the beginning of July I saw sell for a little over $1,100 this week. *ouch*
So glad I sold at the top of Ohtani-mania!

Yeah but, do you have the stones to buy them back at lower prices?

TBF, I think that Ohtani card was a PSA 8, so little less than what the raw card would have probably fetched, but still nowhere near what that card was going for in early July.

If I could pick up that same card for under $1k, I'd definitely consider picking it back up.

Not enough collectors at the ultra modern card table.

Most buy high and sell low. Very few buy to collect, enjoy, and hold.

Longterm for the influencers is 4-5 weeks.

The sell in July was always the obvious move. Well done

Will post when it arrives so not to jinx. I will say that it was "sold" and then ended up going for less than half the original price. Either unscrupulously pumped or a lot of helium came out the balloon. Either way, I'm stoked!

Well, even with the terribly anticlimactic end to an MVP season with injury, I can count the number of BCA PSA 10s on one hand that have surfaced since. The good stuff is being held. The secondary sucker cards like a Green Wave BGS 9 are available on FB for a big 10% discount though.

Easier to hold firm on the good stuff when the numbers are limited and the
product is high end.

Cards like the Bowman Chrome Batting pose in a PSA 10 grade for example
will drop like a stone. We might see a decent drop on the Topps Chrome Xfractor which doesn't have a terrible high pop count.
My point is cards like this will have a greater pump up and down and definitely
a greater exit when things go bad compared to say vintage like a 1965 Topps
Pete Rose in PSA 7 or 8 as a example I'll throw out there.
A lot and I mean most ultra modern guys just flip cards and move to the next one.
