Here's my Brooklyn. Was a $200 pandemic special when everyone was getting furloughed and freaking out.

How do y'all see COMC sales history? I don't see the option on their site.

Interesting night of prices on eBay. Saw a 2018 BCA Green (batting) PSA 9 sell for 14.2K. Solid price. Couple hours later, one went off for 9K. No huge difference in conditions. Autos were similar. I think the 9.8K sale for a PSA 9 is the lowest I've seen since May?

I capture... Date Purchased Vendor (Pack Pull, eBay, COMC, BOForum, myslabs, LCS...etc) Sport Player Team Collection (Ohtani PC, Gator PC, Skateboarding PC...etc) Card Issue Year Era (pre-war, vintage, 80s, 90s, modern, ultramodern) Manufacturer Set Full Card Name (2018 Topps Update Shohei Ohtani Independence Day) Serial Number Cost of Card Cost of Shipping Net Cost if pulled - cost of pack with shipping if pulled - cost of box with shipping I also track grading stats on around 1,500 cards Date Sent Shipping Costs to Date Received Back Shipping Costs from Order # Cert # Grade Pop Count Cost to grade per card Finally I track current estimated value and what I think the card could be worth (upside). Current Value (Graded + Ungraded) Estimated Future Value With 10 years of data I can instantly see statistics on individual cards, players, collections and sports. How much did I spend? How much did I sell? Where did I add the most value to my process (buying cards or grading cards). How are my grading returns in comparison to the era of card? If I sell a card I also instantly know my cost basis for tax purposes. Keeping detailed records helps me keep track of a large collection but also helps keep me sane when I'm allocating capital I could use for another project/hobby.

That's way more thorough than I expected! Thanks for sharing.

If you buy on eBay, you can request a monthly/yearly download from them that will allow you to have the raw data to dump into a spreadsheet.

I'm going to need to see some receipts. Maybe he bought the card raw and then graded it. I just don't believe that card even raw ever sold for $200.

No need to believe me. But if you look at sales data from that period, you'll quickly see that your sense of prices are greatly miscalibrated. Bowman's Best Autos for $100, BCA Batting Blue /150 for $700, TCU HMT1 xfractor for $30, the list goes on.

All good. I'm not trying to pick a fight. Just think you paid closer to $2,000 for that card than $200. And even at $2,000...that was a solid buy

. No one wanted these. Not even exaggerating. The guy that sold it to me got laid off of his job when COVID broke out (I inquired about the card months ago) and was nearly begging me to buy it. I wasn't even seeking it. This kind of panic stuff happened a lot in the early pandemic days. And yeah, I bought it raw. |

I work in the stock market. Financial reporting is an area of expertise and there is a lot of overlap between stocks/cards.
