Likely many large companies are dropping phone support tgey are also redirecting ebay for business messages.

Not sure how I feel about this….not that I was on the phone with them much, but there are some rather convoluted situations that can arise- for example involving returns- that’s is easier to just get on the phone and figure out in 5 min vs rounds of back and forth emailing. Just had a fairly complicated international return issue, where the phone reps were pretty helpful.

I guess it eliminates sellers calling in to get things like actually unjustified feedback removed (basically waiting for it to be done before getting off the phone).

If you carefully analyze the help pages there’s probably not a ton of reasons to call in (reps probably just study and use those)…but still, especially for more beginning buyers and sellers who have issues come up, it’s surprising if they eliminate the phone service entirely.

International returns are not that complicated if you know the rules and follow them. If you are a seller and use Ebay international they are non existant for sellers. Ebay handles them

It was actually quite complicated, and a involved a return to a seller from Asia, due to an original art sketch card being evidenced to not be legit after the return window- eBay doesn’t provide return labels for international btw- and actually was able to ship it back to a different shipping address of the sellers (their reshipper in the US) than the sellers listed return address…needless to say it was not a typical situation, but eBay phone reps were quite helpful throughout the whole thing.

So ebay ended up refunding you. And likely told you the seller would be responsible while sending seller a no fault ruling and not taking money from him.

I don’t think this is what happened, since they were able to create official return INAD through eBay (somehow… this a benefit of being on the phone), and card went back to seller and once delivered on tracking the refund was processed. I’m pretty sure it came from seller. All I can say is this was a pretty complicated scenario that was made a lot easier just talking to eBay reps on the phone. For example without that I never would have felt comfortable mailing a return back to an address not listed with the return- I had multiple reps confirm that as long as it’s clear in the messages seller agrees to this change of address, then it counts…and it did.

Have you talked to reps on the phone? For anything? Returns, cases, feedback issues? If you have, then it doesn’t seem it’s the case they are no use. I can say they were helpful in the above case for me. They aren’t always though, and know next to nothing about eBay AG issues for example. But I doubt I’m the only person who doesn’t like to see them just cut off all phone service (again I can’t confirm for sure this is the case, just saying yesterday it wasn’t listed as an option anymore).

Phone reps are useless in most cases. I have always had better luck with instant messaging or Facebook. Ypu can provide more solid evidence though them.

They have for a long time cut phone services throughout day due to volume of calls. Could have been due to that.

A 0-feedback buyer opened an INR case this evening for an item that was purchased on 8/7 with an estimated delivery date of 8/10.

The most up-to-date tracking details show "Out for Delivery, Expected Delivery by 5:55pm" on 8/10.

Since it's outside of 30 calendar days past the estimated delivery date, I shouldn't need to refund and eBay should rule in my favor, correct?

I'll like chat with an agent tomorrow during business hours to confirm, anyway.

What do I do with the opened case? Just wait for it to be escalated to eBay?

I have always just let them run their course. Might contact Ebay and see if they can push the ruling forward but would not expect them too.

That was my plan tomorrow, to get something in writing that I should be covered.

I used the automated assistant; I didn't even need to chat with a representative. eBay closed the case and confirmed I don't need to refund.

I received the same message from the same user on two, unrelated cards 6 minutes apart.

"Hello boss, do you have Darius Miles' basketball card? I would like to collect some rare cards from his time on the Clippers. If you have any, please send me the link or picture. Thank you"

Neither of these cards are related to Darius Miles and I have no Darius Miles cards listed.

Sort of odd positive feedback I got on an under $10 item. Keep in mind there are no screws pictured or mentioned and almost no one sells them with them. I just included them for free when I have them. They bought two of the same item, one happened to come with some extra screws the other didn't.

"Condition and appearance of the parts were good. The items matched the description, listing info, and pictures. Only reason to dock one star is the lack of accompanying extra screws in one of the bags of parts. The original parts being replaced had some of the screws, but several were missing. Extras would have been helpful, but its not a major issue."

Just had my first partial refund, feedback extortion in quite some time. Item went from showing up damaged, unusable and worthless to let me keep it. After requesting pictures that showed damage their story changed to give me $50 and I'll keep the item, if not I will be unhappy. After a few requests for partial I called their bluff and politely refused and requested they ship the item back for a refund. Within two minutes negative.

Now spinning the wheel on a new episode of will ebay remove it or not.

edit: I just checked their last feedback they left before mine. They did the same thing to another seller and got a partial and kept the item.

They're hoping for pushover/unknowledgeable sellers.

Ebay are the ones who encourage such behavior. It worked last time the guy tried it according to his own feedback he left someone so why not try it on me too.

Well using ebay feedback removal link was declined surprise, surprise. I'll try ebay facebook and see if I have better luck. It should be an easy case but the buyer didn't come out and say the exact phrase if you don't give me $50 and let me keep the item I'll leave you a negative.

Thanks but I'm not on X. I already tried ebay facebook and got shot down. I called them up and was told even though it appears in messaging they violated policy anything said in messaging has no bearing on what was actually said in the feedback left unless also stated in the feedback.

It was pushed to the feedback review team and I will hear from them in 24-48 hours but I already know that was just to get me off the phone. A bit surprised this one is going to stick but not really.

eBay gives you the option to "reply" to feedback left by any member.
Your quote goes directly underneath their feedback so you can communicate to any other buyers why the statement is incorrect or petty.

Click the "Reply" link on the right side of the feedback page.

Good luck

Received a message on eBay this morning on a SP Mahomes rookie card I have up for $500.

Guy was basically saying hey why is your card listed for so much one of these sold for $95 back in April.

Gotta love people who want cards of hot players at off season prices.

Thanks already did it and the guy responded saying I attacked them and threatened them. Ebay still won't remove it. Who would have thought ebay was much less annoying and stressful when I was selling cards. I'm much more of a brick and mortar kind of guy when it comes to dealing with people when problems and concerns come up. Face to face is so much easier.
