This sounds right. I opened my boxes last week, so my memory is a little hazy, but there was definitely a pack with a base back as the last card. I remember thinking it had to be something good and then being disappointed as there was no sig or numbered card to be found. Saw these posts, took another look at my series 2 cards and found a black plate omission Rendon. Pretty sure that it was the card in question.

I received my 20 boxes of Series 2 yesterday, I am opening them now. In my second pack, I see an American Beauty back...I turn it over and see this beauty:

I had one like that and didn't notice anything

My hits were:

SC: Rendon, Soroka, Ripken, Wright, Pujols, Stanton, Thames
Sov: Votto, Ozzie, Scherzer
Polar: Chipper
Cycle: Musial

Also, am I blind or do these cards have no numbers.

Can't confirm whether or not you're blind, but the cards don't have numbers. I sort by team, then check against team checklist.

So I used the online checklist and then with doubles and Piedmont it become like match game. Still, these really should have had a number on the back

The original cards had no numbers, therefore the new cards do not as well. They are given numbers on the Topps checklist, however, which I've pasted into Post 4 where I'm tracking the Ty Cobb backs.

I assume you pulled a Honus Wagner.
I think he has the only (thus far) image variation. I think there are 23 of these Wagner's. These are the Wagner 'black plate omission" cards. I dig the way topps has done this set & how they made Honus the white whale of this set...

edit: pic is pulled from ebay.. not my pic..not asking 100k for this...tho I absolutely love this card! lol

Sets-will sort out tonight

Overall good break, but was saved by 1 pack that had the American Beauty, Cycle, and Polar Bear in it.

woah! feel like this is happening more in this wave than in the previous wave (did it even happen at all in W1?). between this and the "pack 1760" divider card that ended up in that one pack. plus blank cards. just all sorts of wackiness. but can't complain when it benefits you!

Definitely no complaints there. After sorting the base, ended up with 1 complete base and 47/50 for a second so pleased with that as well. I'll post on the trade/sell forum for needs for Piedmont and base. The centering on this series was not as good for me as series 1. More 60/40s overall, but still not as bad as some I have seen. Most of mine were close to 50/50 or 55/45. Outside of the missing corner Wagner Caporal quality seemed reasonable enough. I'm going to try to do a Sweet Caporal set if I pick up a few lots here or there. I'm not doing a Sovereign set for this series unless I find a monster lot for cheap(doubtful). Going to do player sets of Soroka (need Sovereign and Polar and Ripken (need Sovereign, Polar, and American Beauty). I was going to do a Chipper set but the prices on Ebay for his 206 cards scared me off.
