Hope he can stay in to keep mashing at least

No reason to push the arm/finger this season, let it get back to 100%

I played the guessing game and bought tickets for the 6:30 game. Clearly missed, but will probably eat the entire cost if Shohei doesn't bat.

Was it just me or was he wincing after hitting that homer? Maybe it wasn't pitching related at all.

I don’t think we will see him pitching again this season

I think the Angels and Ohtani agreed to something (prior to the game) along the lines of "try it today and if you don't feel great, give us a knod and we'll put Tyler in"

Dude is tired, they should've given him more days off earlier this season.

Also, maybe make him a closer in the future. He could be the best DH and best closer in the game.

If that is the case, I wonder why they removed him from DH? Just a precaution?

yeah, the way he was blinking, you can tell it he just looked exhausted. Long season. Take your time, Sho.

Exiting the Sho for today with an injury?
At least he hit a shomerun during that short 2 innings.

Not to sound selfish, but I hope Trout and Sho are in the lineup next Tuesday against the Phillies. I would like to see them live.

If Ohtani takes a little break and his next start is on 9/1 @Oakland, that should line him up for 6 more starts with his final start on the last day of the regular season at home vs Oakland.

He has pitched 132.0 innings, so he can still qualify for pitching stats with 162 innings pitched if he averages 5.0 innings per remaining start.

That's kind of what I was thinking. You know 162 is on his personal goal list this season

I don't care about the stats at this point. I just want him to have a long, fun, and injury-less career.

Time for Ohtani to shut down the arm. Just hit from thru the rest of the season. If Im him, Im walking in tonight and telling the front office that Im done pitching for the season. They wont bat an eye.

I don't think they're forcing him out there, I think he wants to pitch.

I agree! I think Ohtani is the ultimate competitor. He wants to do everything in his power to win and to be the best player in the sport. No way he shuts down pitching to let his arm rest if it is just fatigue. Now if he is injured that is another thing altogether. I truly believe his is not thinking about next season or his next contract and wants to shut it down. He wants to play if it is possible.

I think people make a lot of comments and assumptions here with a great lack of understanding of Japanese culture. These are different creatures that abide by their own code. And yes, that includes money.

But what if he feels loyalty to the Dodgers for recruiting him first

I think it's important to remember the NL didn't have the DH in 2017.

Going to suck if he needs another TJ or other surgery, wasted his whole pitching career on the Angels.
