It will take a LOT more to wrangle these away from true collectors. It’s just how we think. Our PC’s have come along side of us through life and have been a great sense of enjoyment/goal achieving satisfaction. You’re not just paying for the card—you’re paying an extra premium for my joy—which may be worth more than the card!!!

But that’s the reality of a purchase like this as the last remaining people who are willing to part with their Jordan PC do so now. Soon, only those left will come with their owner standing at the front door with a loaded shot gun and negotiations will begin with a genuine sense of being offended that someone brought up the idea of them selling their Jordans. Take their daughter but not their 57. They will feel insulted with the 6-figure offers. That’s next in where we’re heading with these! That’s where you’ll see some big time $ exchanged.
I have recently read on here how many owners will "never" sell their Jordan 57

I have a BGS 7.5 with 9, 9, and 8.5 subgrades

It is what I could afford two years ago for under $1,000

It is a sharp card

I hope to keep it for awhile

But everyone has their price

Everyone

100%. I PC certain players and have cards that I prize and plan on holding for a very very very long time. But if a big enough offer came my way, I would certainly consider it, the more outsized the offer the more my grip loosens and is open to letting go...

Agreed

I too have a BGS 7.5
Cent 9.5
Surf 8.5
Edges 8.5
Corner 7

Holding on to that long term but if demand is high enough and the amount is just too good to pass up - it is gone!

I will just fall back onto my PSA 4 and enjoy that one

These were sitting at the National convention show a few years back, I think 2013, for $3500 each in a PSA 10. So I think not! Bad sales... I see fake sales everywhere.

Easier to liquidate a Jordan 57 when you have another one(s). If I had just one I wouldn’t sell...ever!

I just saw the two #57 RC PSA 8 sales today of $18,000 and $20,000. They were both really nice copies though. Who would have thought even last month that a PSA 8 Jordan RC would reach $20,000 this fast? Not me, but I'll take it.

Same here. I have the 57 and 101 that I intend on passing down to my kids but if someone were to offer, let's say, pay off my California mortgage, I can't pass up on that. The kids have a college fund anyway

that sounds fair, your kids may not appreciate Jordan rookie cards that you pass to them, but if you do cash, they will lol...

Of course everything has a price. If it were me, I’m not going to sell just to have a ton of fees taken out and in the end, I’ve got a “nice little chunk of $ to do something fun with.” That something “fun” would be buying the card I sold! That type of money is gone before you realize it and then you’re left with the regret of selling something special that you might not ever be able to get again.

It would take someone coming to me with: “how much do you owe on your house? Would you take that plus x% to cover that balance and all the taxes on the sale?” That’s the kind of conversation starter I would need to think seriously about moving whatever high end Jordan I had.

That type of money is difference-making. Right now, there are many people in the hobby who are very much able to offer that type of deal—and make good on it. If we’re not quite at that point yet, that’s OK!

U need to take your rate and the appreciation of the card. if your rate is 3 % and the card keeps going up 10% a year does it make sense to sell?

Exactly! Tough to sell an ever-appreciating asset. Plus—another thing to consider...the fact that we have these cards already says the cards are worth more to us than the money we paid. Otherwise we wouldn’t buy cards. So the “after fees profit” would have to be significant.

It does if you move some of the proceeds over to a similar asset (MORE CARDS!!! YES!!) that has yet to really move but probably should in this climate.

Default Michael Jordan RC, PSA 10, shatters 100k !!!

Hey guys,

I got my first ever Jordan RC, it might not be the #57 but it’s definitely a card I’ve wanted since I started collecting.

I went with the PSA 6 over a PSA 7 (ST). I’ve never been a fan of the OC/ST etc. variations personally.

Also, the centering was way too good to pass up on.

Think I did okay?

That one could well be an, "Eight ST" graded with no qualifiers checked. Every one of those was ST at one point. Just a matter of how well they were cleaned before submitting... if at all.

I love the 1986 Sticker, great pick up. MJ's tongue is out, the shoes he's wearing are iconic, and it's just a cool card over all. I wish I didn't sell mine some years ago.

Very cool. Is there any other 2 rookie cards that depict a player any better?? #57 with the jumpman style pose and the Sticker #8 with the shoes that started it all and the tongue.

Right now I have no plans on selling PSA 9 #57 and #8 pair. Watching this thread though, has created excitement and daily thoughts on selling. But if I did decide to sell I am leaning to Goldin Auctions and offering as a pair. Do you think having a lot containing a pair of 9's would generate some premium/excitement in bidders?

Do it separately. You're going to lose buyers who just want one or the other, not both.

Glad I bought the #59 PSA 9 in August, but didn't pick up #57. I'm priced out, so just thinking about getting a PSA 6/7 sticker. Seems like it still has room.
