not a bad theory. although there are only 23ish black plate omissions per player so it is relatively rare. but you're right, not significantly rarer than cycle backs and definitely not american beauty.

i mean, the pic of the tommy pham black plate was very faint. i would not be surprised if folks did not have a sharp eye for it

Getting my 20 Wave 2 packs tomorrow. Very excited to open and keep building complete sets. I was just looking through how the team checklists are developing through 3 waves and this product really is so awesome as a snapshot of past/present/future for all the clubs. Such a slow burn, but I think we will all be rewarded in few months once people realize how great this checklist is.

People who have gotten them claimed they were the last card in the pack. So if you open a pack and the first back you see is a regular back then the front should be black plate omission

Ah yes the Toronto Blue Jays checklist is really killing it... an arguably not top 3 OF and a pitcher that hadn't thrown a single pitch for the Jays when the cards were printed. The Nate Pearson Bisons card is the best one so far but it's not actually a Blue Jays card. Wave 4 and 5 have a lot of players to choose from for a historic card. Delgado, Alomar, Carter, Bell, Fernandez, Halladay, Wells × 2. If even one of those names makes it into wave 4 or 5 I'll be happy but until then I'm pretty disappointed.

Yeah, Topps did start off very weak for them. You know Bo and Vlad are coming, then they'll hopefully get at least 2 of the legends in. I'm hoping for Carter, Alomar, and Halladay personally. Still 100 cards left and they're running out of Yankees and Dodgers.

Had a good 20 box break topped off with a very awesome Polar Bear. Love seeing which back variant you got and slow-rolling the reveal with these. Haven't sorted through the base yet, but collation seemed about right. I'm only building base sets, so I'll be posting all my back variants in B/S/T for anyone interested.
