Wouldn't you consider working weekends or adding a shift if you truly cared about digging out of the hole?

Thats laughable. Employees working weekends to catch up? Look at the state where COMC is located and tell me if you really think they have employees that are capable or move with a sense of urgency to get the work done and done correctly. I think they are pressed for good help and have created a beast that out grew its cage.

Huh? They're based in Washington, what does that have to do with anything?

Um, I was about to ask the same question...do you know something about the people of Washington that people like me, who actually live here, somehow missed?

It does go to show even if you toss $15 an hour at someone, you don't get a better outcome. People there can't do anything right.

I'll overlook that broad paintbrush you're using with "People there can't do anything right" line and would love to know how you came by that, but that's for another thread.

If we're going to get into a discussion about minimum wage vs living wage, then it goes beyond the issues at COMC...at $15/hr, an individual can't afford the average rent in the greater Seattle area, let alone live a decent life. And since there are so many tech companies here (Microsoft, Amazon, Google, etc, etc) who offer jobs that pay much better than $15/hr, why would someone sell themselves short?

And, as has been said here many times before (even by me a few times) - when you offer peanuts, you get squirrels. It's also been said that when someone offers you minimum wage, they're really saying "I want to pay you less, but by law, I have to give you this much."

I'd gladly pay extra for one of these squirrels to gather my nuts and prepare my package for transmittal.

Pretty sure the fact that they live in Washington doesn't immediately mean anything - you'll find good and bad employees wherever you go.

Sporting goods sales are up around 20-25% from pre-pandemic I believe, despite plenty of supply chain/inventory problems. Here is a quote from today, from another forum, about shipping problems. Oh, the humanity:

I just got an email from Cabela's with Great News! in the subject line. It says my order has shipped with an estimated delivery of 3/24. This is the order I placed the morning of 3/17 that said guaranteed delivery by 3/19. Can't blame USPS or Fedex delaying delivery if the vendor doesn't even start the shipment until a day after the guaranteed delivery date. And it still hasn't techically shipped because all that's happened is Cabela's started the shipping paperwork.

As I commented on a few pages back, how many of the 50 new people are still there?

Wild part is, why didnt you hire some extra help sooner? And again, dont blame COVID when you could work weekends or extend hours etc.

50 at once, at minimum wage, seems like a fairytale. Any employer around here that offers only minimum wage is lucky to have anyone apply.

Please accept my apologies...someone else posted something similar, so I was wondering where the anti-Washington vibe was coming from.

If they've opened a new warehouse/shipping portal, then you'd think this is something they'd have announced - to go in line with the fact that the State has accelerated it's schedule of "opening up" over the last few weeks.

As to why they haven't been running 2nd/3rd shifts or weekend shifts is a mystery, unless they don't want to promote/pay more to the current staff to manage those new shifts...which is a distinct possibility i just thought of...

or, it could be they're just completely inept...

Just found this thread. I was just thinking the other day “how long before COMC falls apart”. It has to be a mess with inventory coming and going and major delays in shipping. I am still waiting on a shipment I requested in December.

I knew it was too good to be true, COMC email with "shipping notification." 3 days later, USPS is still waiting for the package. If I print a shipping label, it's in the mail the same day or at the latest the next.

Default State and State

Was not meant to mean the State of Washington , but the overall state of the company as a whole in its progression and lack of vision to be ready to expand and grow with the volume they were getting.

If people remember it was about 6 or 7 years ago Beckett created the SUper Seller Program that would allow sellers to cross sell from say on Beckett and EBAY where if items were purchased they would be removed from the other site. One of the main sellers that was taking a hit before this program was BURBANK on ebay who had over 300,000 items on ebay and was getting hit by lots of negs for items not in inventory. About a year to 6 months later COMC came online with ebay and the increase of EBAY Baseball cards listed went from about 3 million then to COMC having that much listed alone on ebay. Did anyone ever think there wouldn't be an issue with COMC and the way the were running their company.

Also when I said location I didnt include what that was suppose to mean as I was going to refer to the COVID issue around the country and how it has shut down companies and schools all over. Covid has also allowed for plenty bad behavior with employees in a wide spectrum of companies to take days off from work with from child care issues to false claims for testing reasons due to the government coming up with reasons people can use sick days or call out over fear and still get paid at 75% of their pay for almost 3 months while other workers show up to tow the line. I can see how there could be some morale issues and resentment in some companies over this. I work in transportation in management and have seen more problems with our workers over these new challenges than ever before.

A prime example is one we have complained on since November the USPS backup.

For those that have listed $500-1000+ basketball cards on the site, what has your selling experience been the past year? I have sold alot of <$50/ea ungraded cards the past two months of having cards on the site, but have noticed my ungraded $80+ listings for popular 90's players have been much slower to move (even for cards that seem to have relatively high sales volume on Ebay). I have about 20 graded cards I would like to send in to sell, but if I send in $20K in cards and they never sell, I am paying for security fees (and, based on shipping nightmares reported on this site will not be able to retrieve them for a long time once sent in). As an example, if you had a 96-97 PSA 8 Jordan Big Men on the Court and you priced it at about what they have been selling for on eBay, would you expect it to eventually sell (or, is the only hope to sell it on Ebay, which is unlikely since COMC will substantially mark-up the sale price on the Ebay listing)? I was just wondering how much non-Ebay activity there is on COMC for four digit cards.

Do you think it is fair to disparage the hourly workers that are only doing what they are told to do? There are a select few making the decisions that are digging the grave for the company.

Personally I am shocked that Tim has not retaken the reigns of the company and made some videos updating any attempted fixes. At this point him blowing smoke is a lot better than the silence we are currently getting.

I have had a recent, poor experience with one of the turds working there. So no, I don't feel bad at all about my comment.

I can tell you, from experience, that those who speak up, who try and improve things there, get cut down in no short order...upper management has no time or use for those who question their methodology.

In the months before I left, Tim was burnt out, he was totally fried mentally and emotionally - between the day to day operations and by the Beckett lawsuit. That's how Julia managed to take control of things; Tim was just interested in the tech side of the company, and he was exploring other projects outside COMC, so he let her handle business operations. I'd like to think that he still has a say in things, but it really feels like Julia has the final say in what happens at COMC.

And, honestly, what could Tim say to ease people's minds? Until they start turning things around, in regards to shipping and processing, they're better off staying quiet.

He could blame the sellers like he usually does.
