Don’t feel bad for being a poor collector, there’s a lot of us out there. That’s why you collect what you like and can afford. Even if I were to be lucky enough to get a high end Ohtani, I would still trade it immediately for a lot more of his low end rookies I don’t have. My cheap collection means just as much to me as someone like Trueblues high end collection means to him. It’s all in the eye of the beholder. Glad you like those ones.

Definitely collect what you like. Doesn't matter if it's $10K or $10, if it brings you enjoyment it's all the same from a collector's point of view.
Full disclosure that I am only able to buy these so called high end cards because I was in on Sho from the very beginning and I continued to buy even as I sold. Covered cost but never took profits. The repetitive sell/buy cycle with timely valuation allowed me to transform my collection. Most of the cards I bought originally were below $1K range. The biggest splurge I made was a H-low red ink for $2K - I did not start big. I sure have had a blast of a collecting journey though! |

I for one you are happy you are reaping the benefits, much better to see it happen to a collector than a flipper. Also happy to see your amazing cards knowing they will always be in a collection of someone who appreciates them. I just wish I could have done the same then, but at that point I needed to sell everything and slowly come back in. Now, I collect on a budget and it has gotten me to just appreciate the simpler cards. I like to live vicariously through your collection!

This is an amazing collection of stadium club. I have some higher end Ohtani's but 10 years ago I couldn't even justify buying a $20 box due to me and my family's financial situation. Despite having some high end stuff now, some of my best memories and favorite cards were stuff I pulled out of single packs or saving up $20 for a card on ebay. They gave me the same feeling as the high end stuff when I pull them out and look at them.

How much more would his overall market be right now if he would’ve done this kind of work in 18/19? He was down in 2020 during the biggest boom in the history of sports cards. Imagine if he was doing this, back then.

I personally am thankful he took his lumps early and got himself a new UCL to setup the next decade..imagine if he did this in 18/19 and then got TJ. Would be immense pressure upon return. Nobody cared about Sho pre 2021 and that allowed him to scale back up to his MVP season. |

Picked up a few Ohtanis at trade day today. The Big League rainbow foil has a pretty bad surface dimple but I got a good deal on it so I don't mind. Please ignore the non-Ohtani cards - I'm simply too tired to snap another picture rn.

**Just sharing: Now LIVE on @pwccmarketplace Premier Auction (ends August 24, Thursday)**
One of Ohtani's most valuable and eye-appealing rookie cards in existence. Topps Stadium Club has captured the hearts & imagination of collectors young and old alike, by exhibiting stunning & vibrant photography of the greatest players ever, on and off the field. This card commemorates a historic night in baseball history, when the Los Angeles Angels introduced Shohei Ohtani in front of their fans at Angels Stadium on December 9, 2017. After winning the 2018 American League Rookie of the Year Award on the strength of batting .285, slugging 22 HR and snagging 10 SB as a hitter, and pitching with a 3.31 ERA with 63 strikeouts until his season as a pitcher was cut short by an elbow injury, Ohtani overcame Tommy John Surgery and made his comeback on the mound in 2021. He took the league by storm, smashing 46 home runs, stealing 26 bases, driving in 100 runs with a .965 OPS, plus becoming the Angels' much-needed ace with a 9-2 record, 3.18 ERA and 156 strikeouts in 130 ⅓ innings over 23 starts, to become just the 5th unanimous MVP in the history of Major League Baseball - Barry Bonds (2002), Albert Pujols (2009), Mike Trout (2014), Bryce Harper (2015) and Shohei Ohtani (2021). This season, Shohei became the 1st player in MLB history to have 10 wins on the mound and 40 HRs at the plate, on his way to being the 1st ever 2-time unanimous MVP in MLB history. With each pitch and each at-bat, Ohtani further cements his status as the most transcendent baseball player in the history of the game. Superfractor rookie cards are considered to be the cream of the crop in rookie card collecting, and Shohei Ohtani 1/1 rookie Superfractors have sold for record valuations since his breakthrough 2021 season. Do not miss this iconic piece of sports memorabilia chronicling the December 2017 night when baseball truly won - the Unicorn officially joining Major League Baseball, whose majestic and mythical exploits are sure to be passed on for generations to come. ![]()
