This is a rhetorical question, but why would Topps create insert sets around the Postseason & World Series, put a game used relic in it, then put a small bit of text by the relic that says, "Item is not from the 2023 Postseason"?

Normally that text is printed on the back of the card...

Wait, sorry, last year's insert set said the same thing on the front.

Ultimately I think they should celebrate the postseason with a different style of card. Not the strongest concept.

I should've checked last year's. I have the Postseason Performance auto/relic spot in Houdini's 100 caser and I just assumed that the relics were going to be from the Postseason.

Just remove the relic cards and do a rookie debut style date match for the image would be an improvement

Yes you are correct. I was thinking about the 1989 minis from 2013 or 2014 as if I’d seen them before.

I'm guessing that someone in legal tipped them off that the wording on the back could still be interpreted as the memorabilia was still from a postseason game

Rookie? Emerson Hancock
But there's an insert set featuring Griffey (Celebration of the Kid) and the SP J-Rod looks nice (J-Rod is represented in a lot of the insert sets).

2017 had 30th anniversary 1987 insert sets. 2018 then switched to the 35th anniversary sets. 2016 was the 65th anniversary of Topps

Not 100% sure, but was 2017 the first year of the silver packs?

All of the stamps say 1988-2023, from what I've seen. They failed to change both dates.
