I would love seeing the two starters go 5 allowing 1 or less runs. Of course if the Diamondbacks want to light Scherzer up like Kershaw, I wouldn't complain about that either.

Game 1 looks to have come in slightly lower than the covid series in terms of ratings. Only 2nd time game 1 of ws has ever had less than 10m viewers.

I’m not sure that information has any relevance to anyone at all.

*besides the ad execs who buy air time during the games.

He really cares about the ratings if you can't tell

I never said that, I honestly don't pay too much attention to how much it grows or declines. I know my friends watch baseball, lots of people watch baseball and it's not going away anytime soon.

That was more rhetorical. MLB has a lot of problems with marketing the sport and that will trickle down to the card market imo.

Ah I thought it was a previous stated thing in the many threads about the hobbys health

Yes, hoping for a DBacks win and Corbin contributing in a big way.

Who cares? Fanatics isn't relying on people watching games to grow the hobby. The "hobby" they are looking to grow is their sales. Their "hobby" will grow when they take over the NFL and NBA licenses. You're just lying to yourself if you really thought they were talking about growing the baseball card hobby 10x

And if you really care about ratings, I'm assuming you wanted Dodgers-Yankees? Because those are the largest markets, which draw the largest viewership ratings.

Nats astros had 3m more in game 1. It's down 2.5m from last year. It's not a good sign for the league if fewer and fewer people care about your championship.

Fanatics isn't the MLB.

Again, were you pulling for Yankees-Dodgers? Randoms, or casuals, aren't tuning in for the World Series, it's always been that way. Viewership was up this season, which is what they wanted. The multi-game championship series just isn't the best for getting large ratings.

And baseball fans don't care. And I'm sure very few people think you actually care about ratings. MLB isn't going anywhere

So, in your professional opinion, are you saying we’re in a market decline?

Because if so, we all already know that. As far as current product, Fanatics is still selling out of good, mediocre, and bad product they release.

I don’t think TV ratings has any correlation to the card market. Tua vs Mahomes should draw big numbers for the NFL Europe series, and it won’t have a dent on their card prices.

Is that right??? Regular season viewership was up? Nice!

Maybe the playoff format made more teams relevant?

The rule changes were made to get more people watching and going to games. Mission accomplished.

Nobody outside of MLB and Fox executives care about the ratings. No, JRX isn't worried about the ratings because he's worried about the hobby. He's using it to veil his bitterness that his team isn't there. The ratings of the WS aren't going to make them dissolve the league. The ratings of the series aren't going to affect the price of cards.

Yup. Exactly. I feel like every single year, regardless of the matchup, someone says, “This is going to be a ratings disaster!” and yet here we still are…

Bingo. The ratings are higher for larger market teams, that's just common sense. The Yankees have a larger market and fan base than the Royals, of course the ratings are going to be higher when it's the Yankees. But the number of extra "casual fans" tuning in is a tiny fraction of the number.

Perezchica changed the whole complexion of that inning. Sends Walker with 0 out against one of the best arms in the game.

Scherzer with a 3 run lead.

Let's see which Scherzer shows up.
