After ripping and sorting a hobby case... Collation is not terrific. Between 8-13 of each base. Some dupes in my inserts and even a few triples in the silver packs. 4/8 of my die-cut inserts were damaged. Top edge.
I sound negative, but it's still a good rip. Really like the designs onca lot of the inserts and hits. Like most, not a huge fan of the parallels. They just don't pop, other than the foils. Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk |

Did they have to pay the bear for using its image?

I agree, especially with how all of the distributors are treating everyone these days. The common-man needs a shot at them too.

Other parallels is pushing it...Mom and Pop card stores used to be everywhere in the 90’s. We all know that. So let’s ask, “ do we all like the atmosphere and experience of purchasing cardboard from big box stores?” The fingerings, the “excel” rep stealings of product, bums, and the lack of knowing where my money is going exactly is enough for me. I’d be fine if I never stepped foot in those places. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Any fellow Canadians refreshing walmart.ca looking for hangers? Listed but 'not available'.

Got my 4 hobby boxes yesterday, was expecting them tomorrow so that was a nice surprise when I got off work. I had stopped by target and also picked up a gang of hangers fat packs. Have opened 3 of the hobby so far, kinda disappointed that the lowest numbered parallel so far is a vintage stock but I lucked out with a very clean rainbow foil of Yordan in the first box and then in the second box my hit was an Acuna patch auto /30! (Napkin relic+sticker auto for /30 seems funny but not complaining whatsoever).
I will say that retail hangers seem loaded for the price compared to hobby. Hit an indy of Castillo and a rainbow foil of Bichette in the hangers among other goodies like a vintage stock and sp. I know my sample size is small but my hobby boxes were averaging just a couple each of golds/rainbows and only one sp so far out of the 3 hobbies. I have a few jumbos on their way so hoping I can bust some black or /50 cards. |

I don't normally post...but needed to post my experience and rant a bit. I would gladly have taken what most people have communicated they got from ripping a box of this latest release. Last night I opened my first, and what will likely be my last, 2020 Series 1 Hobby Jumbo.
For starters, I picked it up at a local card store for $153 (sticker shock!). We are talking about Flagship....right? There will be more cards for this release in circulation than any other release this year. I swear I saw this for $550 a case 2 months ago?!?!? I like to support local businesses, but the distributors are absolutely raping consumers here... I typically try to build a master set of base plus the base inserts and am usually quite happy with the numbered cards, inserts, colors, variations, etc. that come in a box. Then I buy retail hangers, hobby single packs, and singles to help complete things out. I will typically sleeve duplicate hotter rookie cards and put them in a box. I don't sell and hold onto cards because I simply like to collect and stick to flagship and update. This time around I was very unhappy with the overall results. Best card I got was a (one) base Jordan Alvarez RC. My autograph card was very weak. I only got three numbered cards in the whole thing. Two where golds that are never going to be worth more than $1. The third was on the manufactured relic (black color variant of ohtani) that had a large ding in the corner (not that it really matters, it is a manufactured patch). The "used" relic was a cool looking 1985 Ozzie Smith bat slice, but that card is poorly centered/cut. Nothing great in the 5 gold foil or 5 rainbow foil cards received. There were no pink, black, blue, red, advanced stats, vintage stock, etc.... no further color variation, outside of the gold, gold foil, and black manufacture relic mentioned, in any of the packs opened, including silver packs. There was only 1 SP photo variation of a retired player (McGwire) that will never be worth more than a few bucks. While I was able to complete the base set from the box, there were more duplicates when said and done than previous years. I am convinced the overall number of inserts per pack was smaller than last year. I think I have more duplicates with this release than I did from the 2019 update jumbo I opened. There is absolutely no value at all... I would have done better buying $150 in retail hanger packs. Yes, I am whining. I feel better now! (not really!) Hope everyone else enjoys their cards! Have fun ripping! |
