Some bizarre pricing in this market. A PSA 9 2018 Bowman Refractor /499 sells for $550 but the raw hitting auto only $680? I think I need to trade up from my refractors

He has one of those effortless swings that lefties can sometimes have. It's just easy and graceful and yet the ball goes 440 feet. I'm not comparing the players, just the swing, but it reminds me of Griffey and Will Clark.

We're one major article away from Shozilla scorched Earth market frenzy. I'm seriously just sitting here right now thinking "what am I going to regret not buying in a month?"

Halos announcers have his swing comped to Darryl Strawberry. Not bad.

He is killing it. We moved to California last summer and can see Angels stadium from our bedroom. I am so excited my son can grow up watching Ohtani and Trout.

I'm surprised his 2013 Japanese cards haven't become hotter....

That's awesome! I grew up watching Angels games when the stadium was closed. (I'm old)

Thanks! Admittedly, we can see it in the distance (we are on a hill in Yorba Linda) but it's still pretty cool. I've always liked the Angles, as I'm pretty old, too...Carew and Ryan were awesome to watch.

Oh yeah. Thanks for bringing it up. I wonder if anyone can comment on the Japanese cards. What are your thought on that?

Yeah, there's a lot of value in the 2013 cards. I think it's because people don't know which to go for. Here is a list of his notable 2013 Japanese cards.

1. 2013 BBM 1st Version Shohei Ohtani RC #183
Think of it like the 1993 BBM Ichiro RC. Basically like Topps Flagship or Topps Chrome.

2. 2013 Calbee Star Cards Shohei Ohtani RC #S-61
No Ichiro Calbee RC. So this is basically like the 1993 Ichiro Tomy ID RC. Ichiro has many Calbee cards starting from 1994. Calbee has been around a long time and is an established brand. Great looking card btw.

3. 2013 Bandai Owner's League 02 Shohei Ohtani RC #71
Think of it like the 1993 Takara Ichiro RC. Another great looking card.

Other notables:
2013 BBM Rookie Edition #42. There's a Hitting card and Pitching card with the same card #.

2013 Calbee Exciting Rookie #D-07

I wish I would've picked up an Ohtani Auto Rookie before the season..but my buy low funds were focued on Vladdy Jr. I have two Ohtani Auto Rookies but one's Optic (Very Cool Black Bordered numbered to 12 on Card..but unlicensed) and another is Topps Clearly Authentic Black numbered to 75 (honestly just not a fan of it all). Was thinking of possibly selling both to upgrade to a Chrome Auto..but I do like the Optic very much despite it being unlicensed. I also pulled both

I would trade/sell up from the Clearly. I love the look of the 2018 optic autos, have a bunch of Ohtani in varying colors. Still think they are undervalued and I also own some Topps RC autos

Yeah I'm definitely thinking of doing that...just don't know what Topps Auto I can get if I sell that off.

I like the comparison. I am a huge Griffey fan but didn’t see much of his swing in Ohtani until you mentioned it. I had a hard time looking past the trademark Japanese mechanics. Now I can’t stop seeing a combination of Ichiro and Griffey. Compact and quick to the ball with the unmistakeable Japanese style like Ichiro, plus a little smoothness, grace and higher finish from Griffey.

Buy anything. He is this good. Pitching AND hitting. I've been saying it and buying him since I joined this board a year and a half ago. And all of last season it got brought up everytime I recommended something, "how's your Ohtani stuff doing" as a taunt. Every Ohtani headline for the next 5 years is going to be "Ohtani, first to do X since Babe Ruth". Sky is the limit

Unreal power.
Nice arm extension on that swing.
Another RBI double.

A lot of people with opinions (phrased as facts) have stopped posting here the last month+. Best to keep that vitriol out of the thread.
