smoked the last of my gran habanos last night so i put in an order for this 5 vegas sample pack, not bad for $47 shipped. 5 Vegas Quattro Nickel Sampler - Cigar.com comes with 4 golds, 4 gold maduros, 4 classic, and 4 cask strength. all are box pressed which i like that squared style.

I bought a pack of black and milds last week. Best decision I've made in years.

So I am facing issues with this humidor. Lack of patience is the biggest issue but aside from that. I put the bowl and the sponge with distilled water back in. RH shot up to the mid-80's. I removed the bowl and did a wipe down with the same sponge(that was in distilled water). This was about five minutes ago so I wont really know the results until tomorrow morning.

In the interim, I have 29 un-homed cigars sitting in Tupperware. Some nice ones. Some were the ones that came with the humidor. you know, for $30, those 10 cigars are a great price WITHOUT the humidor being included.

I am hoping that by the end of this weekend I can get this thing stabilized.

With a bowl full of water, your humidity will be high. Don't worry, it's not rocket science, it will stabilize sooner or later as long as the seal is decent. I enjoyed one of my Romeo y Julietas mid day and capped the night off with a cao Brazilia, life is good. Tomorrow, put your sticks in with your humidification you're using, wait a few hours and see where you're at. It will all work out, don't worry about it.

The Romeo Y Julietas are nice sticks man. The Cao Brazilia...the only one I have ever had was the Gol!, 5" x 56. Looking into the Cigar Dossier I see that the Cigar unraveled from the head and I had to relight it twice.

Have you ever kept a dossier to remind you what you did or didn't like?

As for the humidor, I have two crystal sticks in there right now and the reading is 78 RH. If this drops by 5-6 overnight I will be pleased. I will add some cheapies in there. The Monto Cristo #2's will stay in the seasoned humidor.

I am working on laying down the stones for a patio tomorrow. I intend on having something flavorful while I do it. Later in the evening, my dog and I will hang out and I will have one of my Monte Cristo's but I haven't decided which one yet.

Sounds great my man. I'm in the process of building a 700 sq. ft deck, tore down my old one, and want to build a nice fire pit near the edge of my woods before winter. It's rained for several days and it's hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel. I wish I kept a cigar journal but so far I've been able to keep up by memory. This is my second brazilia and both have had an even burn with no issues. As with all hand made items, there will be issues from time to time.

Holy crap man, 700 square feet?? Do you do that type of stuff for work that may make that seem easier? You are in NC, right (so the winter is a bit shorter than here in NH). As for the rain, it rain pretty hard up here this week. It really stalled the beginning and even caused some erosion since the patio is on a slight hill (I am figuring three steps will be involved).

As for the hand rolled issues. Eh, stuff happens. I like most cigars. I really like feeling like I am smoking higher end sticks, especially when I feel I "Earned" them.

By any chance, did you want those two Vegas Golds I had posted about a few days ago? I can just send them to you if you are interested. They don't move when I have get togethers and my last resort is throwing them away. They did kind of bother my throat when I smoked the other ones. Either way, LMK.

I live in Knoxville. My father in law is an engineer and partner at his firm and is incredibly gifted to be able to put together just about anything (it's amazing how much money he has saved my wife and I). He is extremely patient and a great person, I am very lucky to have him as my dad passed away 7 years ago from leukemia. I enjoy doing stuff like that and learning so it makes doing stuff much easier and enjoyable. I'm saving approximately 2k doing it myself. I'll pm you on the smokes.

Knoxville? So your winters are a little bit shorter anyway.

Shoot man. Sorry to hear about your father. I am lucky to still have my old man. I cannot stand doing work like this. I am an accountant. I make no bones about doing little things like this around the house while my wife takes care of our daughter (I Have a nine month old). However, really big projects I will pay a pro to do. We had the driveway done last year. Repaved and what not. It was a ten spot, but my butt wasn't out there in 90 degree heat doing it.

I am however looking forward to the 50 degree weather tomorrow. Walk the dog, put him on his harness and have him on his run while I lay the patio down. I just wish he were smart enough to not run into traffic.

Yeah, winter will hit in November or early December, it's been a cool rainy 60 here lately. That's funny you're an accountant, that's what my wife does. I'll have to do some driveway work soon. I've got a huge tree next to the driveway and the roots have cracked/sunken the driveway. Of course I'll do it myself but I'm not looking forward to it. Concrete work is expensive and I'm to much of a tight ass to pay someone lol. As far as the dog, get you an In ground electric fence. We've got an acre and a half lot and my dog is in hog heaven. I got one off amazon for $200 and used an edger attachment on my weed eater and installed it in 2 days. A two week training regimen and my dog was good to go. As far as losing my dad, it was tough. As most good dads, it was like losing superman. My mother has had the worst time, they were together just over 40 years, she had been with him since she was 12. I couldn't imagine.....

My dog is a beagle. He would legit run through fire if his nose led him through it. He is and will always be a bad "free" dog. Trees? Yeap. That is on the "pay someone" list. Concrete? My old man drives a cement mixer for the next 20 days. He has done it for 19 years and 10 days. Retires with a Teamsters pension in 20 days. Believe you me. I have his favorite Monte White waiting for him after those 20 days. As for concrete work. That is also on the "pay someone" list. I have never had the inclination to do that type of work. I work in an office for a reason.

The buffalo trace is a success, nice change of pace from jack.

I had a man o war toro while working on the patio. I only smoked half of it. It was not agreeing with me.i did get two of the three steps done on the patio.

Then I had an anniversary dinner with my wife. Now I am enjoying a monte cristo white. It is a nice and smooth, mild smoke. I have a few in the humidor.

When I head in I will be checking the hygrometer reading. It was 67/71 earlier. If it is the same when I go in I may have a new home for the overflow of my sticks.

I have never tried buffalo trace. Pretty good?

I just laid down and am too lazy to get up. I will check it in the AM. If it sticks, I think it is good to go.

Your package went out today. I have tracking in my wallet but....please see the above comment about being lazy.

Yes it's good, very smooth and at less then $30 a bottle, worth every penny. Smoking my second casa magna and I am disappointed. It's got a tough draw. I feel like I wasn't pleased with the last one also. It's torpedo cut, maybe I'm just not making a big enough cut on it and the narrow tip is affecting the draw?

I enjoyed a Gran Habano Vintage 2002 today. It was very good, especially for the $2 spent.

Still 88F and humid here in North Florida. I'm eight days out of back surgery (ruptured disc replaced, two herniations removed, and gained some titanium hardware.) After I get my staples out it will hopefully be cooler. I'm going to purchase a mid priced bourbon and smoke one of these stogies I've stored for over eight years.

It has probably been 18 months since my last (time flies) so it will likely not be as enjoyable as I hope. I wet lip and chew them, so I'll at least get a nice lip staining. Hopefully no headache or nausea since it has been so long.

I'll post a picture of what I have. None are expensive, simply ones I liked and bought far too long ago.

That was my go to over the summer. I smoked another rocky Patel decade tonight and this might be my next premium cigar purchase, you get 20 robustos for just under $200.

Not only are these a great smoke but they have a nice presentation with the cedar wrap and nice bands. At $2 to $3 a smoke, you don't feel bad for giving out a handful at a gathering lol. I will add my last bundle of 20 didn't burn as good as the first two bricks.

That is always a nice one. I enjoy Bulleit too. And Eagle Rare

My last visit to the liquor store (probably June) before my back crap, the store had a sampling station of a Texas bourbon. I enjoyed it and told their salesmen I'd buy some in the future. That is until I looked it up online and it cost $80-100. I love, love bourbon, but not at that price point.

88 and humid? No thanks for me. THat is just brutal anytime of year. Its freaking October. I couldn't do it.

At first puff you will remember what you are missing. Hopefully, anyway. Last week I had a stogie that made me incredibly nauseous now that you bring that up. It has been few and far between but whatever it was did not sit well with me.

As for the expense. An expensive cigar is not always a good cigar. I had a Nat Sherman on 8/24 when I officially found out I got my new job. It was around $20. The smoke was consistent but it was very unfulfilling, even more so when considering the price.
