Livvy Dunne needs to stay in Pittsburgh

Skenes is a class act but she is insufferable

Perfect Hollywood ending!

Skenes is from Orange County and Livvy probably won't mind the PC/LA/Hollywood lifestyle.

Good for the Dodgers sacrificing some profit to put the best product they can on the field.

It's not like the Red Sox couldn't have afforded to re-sign Mookie, or the Braves re-sign Freeman, or the Angels re-sign Ohtani. They all chose not to.
The Dodgers didn't sacrifice anything -- they dramatically boosted their revenue and franchise valuation:

2023:
Revenue: 581 million
Valuation: 4.8 billion

2025:
Revenue: 752 million
Valuation: 6.9 billion

Teo signed a one year deal that every team in baseball could have afforded before re-signing this year. Blake Snell was a 2-time CY winner that reached free agency twice in two years. It's just really smart decision making in conjunction with owners that are willing to spend.
Betts is not an inner-circle Hall of Famer. The Red Sox made the playoffs this season without him and wouldn't have been a title contender with him. He had a down year -- .732 OPS.

The Braves have Matt Olson, who was just as good as Freeman this season and is much younger.

Snell is a luxury only the Dodgers could afford -- he missed most of the regular season and was signed with the postseason in mind.

Hernandez wasn't actually good this season -- .738 OPS and -9 Outs Above Average.

Are you saying the Dodgers are going to somehow pry away the 23-year-old, presumptive Cy Young Award winner with 4 years of control left from the Pirates?

If so, can you explain how exactly this robbery will take place?

Trade their top 7 prospects, as mentioned in my previous post.

That would be the stupidest trade in MLB history. Even the Pirates front office isn't that dumb.

From what I'm looking at their 2024 revenue and 25 payroll had the 2nd highest percentage in Baseball (77%) only the Mets were higher (there are obviously other expenses too).

We aren't talking about franchise valuations that wouldn't be realized until selling. They are absolutely sacrificing liquid profits to win now and should be commended. Obviously they have deeper pockets but just on a percentage basis. Whereas you have teams like the Marlins not even spending 30% of their revenue while crying poor at the same time.

I would imagine that revenue -total expenses is a number we might ever fully know add the other variables that enter players thought such as all the side revenue players gain in different cities plus for many players the diversity of a city where the families will possibly be for years etc etc. Also, when you talk about spending 70% percent of revenue in LA or NYC versus 70 % in smaller cities the money remaining in LA and NYC is much greater than the smaller places. So they can spend a much higher percent and still be left with more money than say Marlins if they spent the same say 70% but again the variables involved make it very difficult to understand fully the real reasons the dodgers are so exceptional it goes way beyond for many just salary.

Yes. The Dodgers offense hasn't been what it was cracked up to be.

But I have a feeling they'll find a way to win game 6. Then anything can happen in a winner-take-all game 7.

I hope it goes the full 7. Probably one of the better World Series we have had in awhile.

We should always root for game 7's in any sport, no matter which teams are involved.

So far, the Dodgers are doing a fantastic job giving it away.

We'll see what happens in Game 6. Will Yamamoto save them?!

If only Japan-born pitchers take the mound on Friday for the Dodgers, that probably will mean good things for them.

Maybe wearing the sweater of a team that always blows it in the postseason is some kind of reverse-psychology...

Just looking at the team from a macro perspective and what changed prior to the WS to now, it is Snell's fall off that has cost the Dodgers the most. Snell looked GOAT tier leading up to the WS. He's let us down.

And it's not a surprise. The Dodgers had a full week off in between game 4 of the LCS and game 1 of the World Series. Snell is very streaky and was locked in prior to the layoff. And the Blue Jays hitters destroyed the Yankees' top lefty starters.

Yes, very streaky. One of the more streakier pitchers I've seen and one of the most unexpected 2 time CY winners ever. When he's on, he's unhittable.

Him and Betts has really done us in. Betts is literally worthless right now.

At least Betts acknowledged he's been worthless. Most of the Dodgers hitters have been pretty worthless this series. Even Ohtani, take out his stupid game 3, he's been bad too (think he's 2-15 in games 1/2/4/5). If a couple of guys not named Ohtani don't start hitting tonight, gonna be a long flight home to LA.

The one guy who has been consistently GREAT so far has be Yamamoto. If he's on form, it goes to a game 7 and anything goes then. I'm hoping he pulls another rabbit out the hat for us tonight.
