Cool sketches… thanks for sharing!

I got 3 slabs back today… 2 were sketches. I’m trying to get a PSA slab of each artist that worked on the Dino set with the caveat mentioned in my earlier post above that it appears PSA might not slab unsigned sketches.

That’s a very good possibility. I didn’t even think of that. I requested these shipped home so I’ll get a better look in a couple weeks.

Really cool sketches! Do you ever have your sketches shipped to you or keep everything in your COMC account?

PSA getting stingier and stingier with grades as they get more experience slabbing sketch cards.

Here are two cool ones I just got back from two comic book legendary artists…

The Buscema sold pretty quickly which usually means I underpriced it…

I never held this sketch in hand (was from ePack) so was initially shocked to see the PSA 2 grade…

But then when I flip over to the back scan now I can clearly see the large tape pull on back that likely lead to the low grade.

At end of the day I’m glad the front of sketch isn’t affected as it is a really nice one. Faustino did great stuff for this set!

Well not a PSA 1 at least!

But yea wow that’s bad quality control on the sketch with the logo ripped off. Good candidate to pop out of the slab and just enjoy the front, although that’d require sending home first probably, not sure how that works.

Even if it sold quick I think >$600 was a good sale on the Sal. Not often do Marvel sketches get into those amounts imo. I’ve sold John Buscema Surfer sketches in only the $200 range, but they were from the ‘98 set, so a little different.

Ugh… Cary Nord used to be an artist on Daredevil and this sketch of Matt Murdock (who is blind) driving cracked me up. Not sure why PSA went with Johnny Storm on the label but I guess they can’t bat a thousand. Bummer.

Bummer…maybe the PSA name-assigner should post Q’s on blowout in uncertain cases, I bet they’d get helpful info and a lot of these answered.

An “error label” I suppose.

Edit- pretty funny sketch though. Maybe that’s why they decided against Murdock since it doesn’t make sense

Well since he is DD he has radar sense so it makes sense but it would def freak out his friends that don’t know he is Daredevil.

Johnny Blaze would have been a better guess than Storm, right? I mean if PSA is just chucking out hunches based on the scene? Great looking card.

I ended up picking up another Faustino that I’m going to sub. Really like the quality of art he did for this set.

Very cool sketch.

Got me thinking, has UD ever done landscape oriented sketches in Marvel? Honestly can’t remember seeing any in all these sets. It makes sense with the Dinos since it’s huge creatures out in nature.

The first set of Marvel Beginnings from 2012-13 also had single panel landscape sketches to go along with normal portrait sketches.

Ah ok. And now that you mention it, I do remember the original Beginnings having them. Gotta be rare in Marvel. Im used to buying and selling within Masterpieces, which never had them.

You'd think in some cases with APs/aftermarkets some artists might go against the stock template and do horizontal, but I dont remember that happening much in MM.

I think it was more of a thing around 2012-2015. I know Thor2 had them and I think the Avengers set that hit around that time also had landscapes.

I just subbed a sketch to PSA through COMC and notice they have raised the price a buck from $22 to $23. I guess to compensate for new postage rates or something.

With a sketch does it matter if it's graded by psa or cgc? I'm considering grading some goonies sketches just because I tend to try and grade as much of my pc as I can... I know with regular cards psa brings more value but with a sketch is the value based only on the art and artist?

I have been slabbing like 90% of my most recent submissions through PSA because I like the overall look better. If you submit through COMC, the cheapest PSA slab ($23) now costs $8 more than the cheapest CGC option. So you can save some money going the CGC route, but in general I believe you would likely make that up on the backend if you ever choose to sell.

I got a few more dinosaurs sketch card slabs back today for including this PSA 10 Faustino that more than makes up for last week’s PSA 2 from same artist…

I just noticed that CGC has a "pop report" of sketch cards that have been graded.
Here's the CBLDF sketch cards from 2011.
They have Character and Artist for most of their sketch card reports.

That’s cool! I slabbed the Sakai Grendel listed…

EDIT: I’m pretty sure the Angela was mine too at one point but it sold.
