Briscoe was 12th in the initial playoff standings, made it to the Round of 8, needed to win Martinsville to advance, was 63 points back going into the race, finished 9th

I’m heading to Bristol in the morning for the cutoff race. Should be fun!

What an uninteresting final 4 IMO. Larson, Blaney, Bell, Byron.... I am just not interested to see who wins out of those 4. I'd say Larson is the favorite but Blaney has some great momentum.

Obviously as a MTJ fan I'm bummed, but also I just would like some intrigue or fun storylines for the championship

And because it was discussed earlier, here is where everyone started the playoffs. Bell and Blaney would be the first driver to win in this format starting the playoffs outside the top-6

Byron - 1st
Larson - 6th
Bell - 7th
Blaney - 12th

I feel Byron and Bell deserve it for the year they had. But screw who deserves it. Blaney has been scrappy and fun to watch advance round to round. So I'm rooting for him. Larson is a favorite so I certainly wouldn't complain if he won.

I think that's what makes this year's 4 feel a bit less exciting. There are no "villains" this time. People love to hate so if Busch or Logano are in then there's the built in excitement of ANYONE BUT THEM!!!1!!1!!

Really could care less like two of the previous post but always like the under dog story so my pick would be Bell.

I like Blaney. Every year, I go to the fall Bristol race. After the race, I wait for the drivers to walk by as they exit the track. I typically have a few cold beers left in my cooler, so me and my buddies yell for the drivers and offer them a beer. Blaney always comes by the fence to sign autographs, give away whatever hat he is wearing, and take a few pictures. That said, he always, always takes a beer with a huge smile while everyone around cheers. Most drivers won’t even acknowledge our existence. Yelling at Jimmie Johnson, Brad Kesolowski, Kyle Larson, and many others is no use. Once, Austin Dillon took a beer. Once, Clint Bowyer was going to take a beer but when he noticed it was a Miller Lite, he had to decline because of his Busch sponsorship. But Blaney takes one every year and has made a number of fans who gather around every year Bristol.

Thanks for sharing that story! Blaney always seemed like a good guy. You confirmed it!
