2020-21 Optic - Star Gazing Red /99
Insert Parallel 13/15 Cards

I saw one of these get pulled in a break and I knew I had to collect this set (happens a lot). Optic had its issues in 20-21, but these look mostly fantastic (Mitchell's photo looks weird). I like the theatre-curtain look and thought that was a nice spin on the star-gazing theme.

Shout out to Chris Paul playing so well he made it back to inserts when he was about 35 years old.

Great stuff!

I had no idea the 17/18 Courtsides were holo. Loved the action photos from others years so I'll definitely look to put this together. The 1 legged Dirk fadeaway might be my favorite from this set.

This also made me figure out how many more Power Surges I need to complete the soccer version from the same year. Gorgeous card. I love my Mauro Icardi with his yellow knee high socks and the blue/black/yellow Inter Milan jersey.

Thanks! Yeah, the Courtsides are generally nice, I keep an eye out for them every year. I want to check out the Courtsides from Hoops Premium, might be an interesting one.

Power Surges are awesome, soccer was same year right?

2020-21 Prizm - Sophomore Stars - Silver Prizm
Insert Parallel - 10/10 Cards

I wouldn't mind if this was a recurring set for Prizm. Would be a cool comparison over the years, to see each Sophomore class against others. Not that the best 10 players for a given Sophomore year is set in stone of course. It's not that long since this was released and it'd be hard to argue these are the top 2019 players now. Poole, Hunter, Johnson x2 may have arguments for being included here in hindsight.

I recently opened up a box of 2021-22 Revolution (first time since I opened 2015-16) and the Impact almost fooled me into thinking it was a Galactic.

I'm not sure the borders were everyone's favorite, but I love these. I don't love the awkward placement of the serial numbers, those would have been great on the back of the card. Kobe and Curry will be the tricky ones for me (mainly because they'll be expensive).

I've always loved noir, plenty of good cards throughout the years.

Added a handful. There was a Kobe for $200 on comc that I kind of regret not getting.

2014-15 Hoops - Rookie Gold
Subset Paralell - 40/40 Cards

14-15 Hoops had plenty of parallels. These are un-numbered Gold. I think they fell a handful per box or thereabouts (including veterans, so you might have gotten one or two of these rookie parallels per box).

Grizzlies really struggled drafting there for a while.

The silver prizm parallel is probably the one to get, but I had never collected any fast break and I think this is a good fit for it. They look great and they're a little cheaper than the silvers.

Update

This one is done. Nice looking set. Fast break is just as hard as the other prizm parallels to photograph.

I'm not crazy about the design, but I do like the concept. The draft positions are featured on the front and it's interesting to see where they found "gold". The checklist is great, and well done on including Curry at this point (he was good at the time of this release but far from a sure thing). If anything, I wish the checklist had been expanded a little bit more so we could see a few more stars that weren't drafted 1st overall. Maybe Mark Price? Ginobili. I'm sure there are plenty of other good examples.

2019-20 Prizm - NBA Finalists Green Prizm
Insert - 8/10 Cards

This initially came about as I wanted to try a green prizm set and I already had 1 or 2 of these. They're associated with retail and therefore aren't valued particularly highly by the hobby. I think they're fine, but put them side by side with other colors/parallels (of which there are now an endless amount), and I don't think they would sniff the top 10 of Prizm parallels.

1991-92 Upper Deck - Base
Subset - 27/27 Cards

As I was putting these in folders I was super happy to see there were 27! Perfect fit for 9-pocket pages, which is rare! I thought that might have actually have been the intention as I have this feeling people/kids were using more 9-pocket pages back in the 90s. As I thought about it though, I realised the actual reason for 27 cards was more likely the number of teams in the league at the time

These art-cards were everywhere at a certain point in the 90s. They were in different products from different companies over several years.

This is one of the rare times I've thought to myself that the cards look better in photos than in hand. My favourite is probably the Isiah Thomas. Looks great with the Pistons logo in the background.

I like these retro subsets they've been doing. The neon green is an Australian exclusive (I think?) and so they're not all that easy to come by.

Won't share anything that's not halfway, so this one just sneaks in. The prices of these have been increasing quite a bit. Lebron is about $1k (BGS 9). Fairly condition sensitive set.

Excuse the odd angles as these look kind of dull in certain light/angles.

Got the Bill Russell in the mail today so this has been coming along nicely. Last 2 are Magic and Lebron.

Haha, may partly be because of the angle! Yep, not sure what I'm going to do with that LBJ. I wouldn't think that card will drop much in value in the future. Before he retires may be the best time to buy it.

1994-95 Topps Embossed. I wished they did a set of this for football. Baseball had one but it wasn't as cool as the basketball version. This is the set I first remember seeing MJ back and in #45. I don't know if it was the very first set to bring him back, but seems like it was an early one especially considering he was tacked on at the end as card #121 after the rookies.

1994-95 Topps Embossed Golden Idols - 1 gold card per pack. No other hits or inserts. Condition highly sensitive. Surface is prone to flaking off. Edge wear and chipping is crazy.

Insert Parallel 16/20 Cards

Not a product I am very familiar with, but these definitely caught my attention. The blue (Sapphire) is a parallel of this acetate insert.

I don't remember if it was on this forum or elsewhere, but I remember reading a discussion about case hits and someone thinking that if this had been a case hit (or very limited print run), it would have been very sought after. In any case, beautiful cards.

I'll keep saying Hoops is one of the most underrated products. This insert was another case where there was a holo effect but no "base" version available. They really pop (most of my other photos are taken the same way and these just go bananas under the light).

Part of the foil is missing on the Jokic, I may have a look and see if I can get one without that problem or if it was something with the entire print run.

It's been awhile. Have some stuff to update, just a matter of finding time to do it.
