I agree about sales picking back up.

On a different note, does this make sense to anyone? Let me start by saying that I offer 1 card shipping for 95 cents and $1.85 for 2 to 4 cards.

A buyer this morning bought 2 cards for 53 cents total plus $1.85 shipping, then made a separate purchase just minutes late of 2 cards for 50 cents total plus $1.85 shipping and used the 3 cents loot he got from the 53 cents purchase.

I hope he didn't do two separate buys to get the 3 cents loot. If he would have just made 1 purchase of 4 cards for $1.03 total Plus only 1 shipping charge of $1.85 he would have not gotten the 3 cents loot, but he would have also saved the 2nd $1.85 shipping charge. Needless to say I got hit with 2 paypal charges.

Happens to me all the time. I don't know why they don't wait and do it all together. Put them in the same envelope.

Sorry if this was asked before, but how do you use loot? Is it a credit that I can apply to a future purchase with that seller? Is there a way to easily check how much loot you have?

Yes, while logged in to your sportlots account click on the sportlots logo in the upper left corner of the page, then scroll down to the bottom left corner of the page. Any seller you have built up loot with will be listed there, and how much loot you have with them will be beside their name.

Great website, I am guilty of ordering cards one day and ordering more the next or a few days later. Reason being is I don't have a want list, some days I'll think oh I want to buy this card, then a few days later a new card might come to mind and I wouldn't wait because the ones I want could sell out.

Most sellers ship to box once or twice a week. If you're a seller that ships to box, put all the cards in one package, separated per order of course, saves on shipping.

Is Sportslots a good place to sell 90s and 2000s hockey inserts? Hockey cards are more limited on the site than other sports.

Without running the numbers - I have had better luck on SL with hockey than with either basketball or football however I have a bigger inventory in hockey as well so not sure if the sales are in line from a percentage standpoint.

Hockey does seem to go in spurts and I'll seem to get a real large purchase there more often than in other sports.

As for the 90s inserts though, I would expect them to sit for awhile. If you haven't sold on the site yet, I would look through a number of the posts here to get started but I would say to get a large chunk of them loaded into the system before turning your vacation settings off for sure.

Good luck!

I want to give a shout out to Sportslots for consistently excellent customer service. Latest example, I found a $1.85 card I wanted from a dealer with the following to Box shipping chart:
1-4 cards - $3
5-10 cards - $2
11-15 cards - $1

Fair enough in theory that they are incenting people to buy more. I looked at his items and saw that they had 10 AJ Puk rookies at 0.25 each. Since I've been meaning to build a small Puk stash I added all of those in and put in the order.

The seller without messaging me changed the Puk order quantity to 1 (I'll give him credit 10 could have been a mistype) but only refunded me 25c since the shipping charge had autodefaulted back to $3. Although it's only $2, it felt wrong that I get charged more shipping because of a mistake by the seller while getting fewer cards

Since the seller wouldn't answer my messages, I messaged Sportslots about it. Within 24 hours they had not only refunded the $2 but also sent me a thoughtful message saying that this was a scenario that they had never considered and were going to see if they could find a technical fix to prevent users getting charged higher shipping when sellers have to adjust orders.

In the past, they have proactively credited my account when the box shipping cost less than they had anticipated.

All in all, I've only ever received great customer service. Makes a nice contrast from everything that's happening at COMC right now....

Thanks for posting this, it was great getting to talk with Max.

I know he is open to feedback on potential enhancements!

I’m a little late to the thread, but just wanted to add to the PWE discussion. I send up to ten cards worth less than $5-6 in a PWE and have had very few issues. After several years of selling my experience has shown the fears of scammers are overblown.

I love both buying and selling on the site and hope to move up from blue to double blue in the near future!

Nice to see a Sportlots thread, even as a buyer who wouldn't mind if it stayed a secret. Recognize some names of people I've bought from. Site is great for me since I mainly just work on sets and I typically find most things cheaper than on ebay or COMC. Anyways not really much to add to the conversation right now other than the site has saved me a lot of money.

The owner's voice sounded like someone I heard before.
I was like WTF is it and figured it out. This guy Nick Hines in this vid, in the upper right hand corner.

For a few weeks I was listing 500 to 1,000 cards a day, then out of nowhere I just lost the motivation. I don't think I've listed any cards in 3 or 4 days.

Hopefully I just burnt out a little and a few days of not listing will get me motivated again.

Any of you guys ever hit a wall like that?

Yeah - for sure.

It comes in waves and I'll list a couple sets or so while wife and I are watching TV at night, then I just want to lounge. Sales have been strong too, which is obviously a good thing but it takes time to get everything packed up and out which eats into the listing time.

The nice thing is that once they are in, they are in and you don't have to worry about relisting.

Sales have pretty much stopped for me with only 1 sale since June 15th.

Just gotta keep listing I guess.

Well it was bound to happen. I went to find a card that was purchased and I don't have it. Probably a fat finger in my listing process, but who knows. I found the other 3 cards he ordered from the same set, so I know it isn't misplaced.

So do I just change the 1 to a 0 before I hit the fill order button and sportlots adjusts the pricing, or is there something else I need to do? Also, do I message the buyer with a heads up, or will sportlots notify him?

Thanks for any help anyone might offer.

Edited to add: I assume my accuracy rating will take a slight hit as well.

Yes, adjust your quantity from 1 to 0. Sportlots will notify the buyer.

You are also correct about your accuracy rating.

If everything else in the transaction goes well (delivery, condition requirement met, etc...) can not having a card in an order get you a negative from the buyer?

You might get a neutral. Don't think buyers can give negatives without opening a dispute.

I have flat $3 shipping, but give free shipping on eleven or more cards. One time I was missing a card and I knew if I removed it, Sportlots would tack on $3 for shipping, so I left it in the order and sent cash to refund the missing item with a short explanation of why I did it. I do hope they fix this.

This last week of June has been almost as busy as the first 3 weeks. Anyone else seeing that?

I wouldn't go that far but I have seen an uptick. I do all baseball so the announcement there will be a season may have contributed.

Is it worth selling on there if you only have like ~5000-10000 cards (95% commons)

Not really. High fees will kill you. If you were going to replenish as you go and increase your inventory then go for it.
