Default Fright Rags Film Facts Reissue Set of 120

Here's the newly issued set of Fright Rags "Film Facts" cards. These are essentially a reprint of the bonus cards originally issued one random card per Fright Rags order over the past 10 years or so. These have a uniform border design as opposed to the various border colors used on the original individual series, and a new design on the card reverse.

This is a 120 card set, which collects the first 12 series which featured 10 cards per series. There have been a few series since, issued the same way as before, one random card per order (whether cards or otherwise).
No word whether or not those will also be issued in pack form at some point.

Try going through the pictures without looking at the line of black ink type running up the left side of each card and see how many of the movies/TV shows you can identify just from the pictures and captions. (I haven't done that yet myself, but I'm thinking I'll come up with a pretty high percentage.)

The wrappers:

The cards:

Pre-order for Fright-Rags' Hellraiser set is this Friday, January 30 at 12 PM EST. Cards ship the week of February 23.

This set covers the first film. Hobby boxes are $135 and limited to 500 made. Every box has either an auto, a sketch card by actress Ashley Laurence (she did 25 sketches), or a Pinhead foil rookie card. So not every box has an autograph. And each box comes with a foil character box topper card.

Autograph print runs range from 15 up to 75 signed with the exact totals being listed on the product page when it launches this Friday.

Here are the signers:

- Clive Barker
- Doug Bradley
- Ashley Laurence
- Andrew Robinson
- Oliver Smith
- Sean Chapman
- Simon Bamford
- Nicholas Vince

You can try these for an extra 10% off. It shows that they still work, but I haven't tested them recently. I believe I used all of them back in October on Terrifier boxes though and they all worked then. I think they're good for one order only so you can't reuse them.

Of course, like a moron, I wasn't logged into my account when I ordered, so it doesn't look like I got rewards credits.

I might have to order a series of these as well. There's a pretty great variety of shows and movies. One glaring omission (unless I missed it) is Dark Shadows/Barnabas Collins. I'm biased becasue I'm a huge fan of that show, but it has a significant place in pop culture when they pivoted to supernatural in 1967 and would have been worthy of inclusion in this set.

I'm shocked it hasn't sold out yet. Maybe not guaranteeing an auto per box is why?

I think I would rather have one of the sketches or the Pinhead Foil /50 than a few of the autos. If the sketches were signed then that’s sort of a two-fer. But yeah…im surprised it hasn’t sold out also. 2 box limit definitely gives everyone a shot at these. No one can complain if they didn’t purchase prior to sell-out. Everyone had plenty of opportunity.

It's highly likely these Film Facts cards depict properties Fright Rags had licensed at one point or another for their apparel products and such. Perhaps they've never licensed Dark Shadows for any of that, and thus, couldn't use it in this set. I have to think that's the case, as certainly, a Barnabas card would've fit in beautifully with Series 12, with featured nothing but episodic television, a departure from all other series which have been comprised solely of feature films.

I'd say that's because in addition to the price being up a little, the 500 box production run is a significant increase over all previous FR card series, which are usually produced in a quantity closer to 300 boxes.

The value is there even with the price increase. I bought two. Very cool additions to the normal fare IMO.

55/500 boxes will have the price covered in the autograph alone and possibly even 95 as Lawrence will be close. I'd imagine the sketch will be close as well. So about 20% of the boxes get your value back in one card.

I also love that they disclosed how many of each card exists. Props to them on this release.

There was a pretty nice set from Eclipse for "Hellraiser" made in 1992, although it was only base cards and Lament Configuration (evil puzzle box) holograms back then.

I do have a couple of Clive Barker autograph cards already (from the "Box of Blood" and "Clive Barker Illustrated" factory sets, both from 1993), but I'd love to add that /15 to my collection.

This appears to be the first Fright Rags card set to eschew the printing plate in favor of something else as a box topper. I wonder if that's the new normal going forward and also what they're going to do with the printing plates from this series.

Our standard run is around 300 boxes, this one was 500 boxes so it's taking a little longer. That said, we have less than 50 left and they are still selling. While we like selling out quickly I'm glad when people have more than an hour or two to get something.

Thanks for the kind words! We want to be as transparent as possible with our releases. Not that we were not trying to be before, but I know it helps people when they know exactly how many of each auto, etc there are.

The main reason we did not include a printing plate is because, at 500 boxes, there weren't enough plates. So we wanted to come up with something cool that people could look forward to getting and still make it fun.

Sounds great!
500 is still a very, very limited quantity, so hopefully you guys can keep it at least there or even go higher, so you can make a little more money for these efforts, which have all been terrific. I've been collecting FR sets since "Re-Animator". If you can actually ramp it up to say, 800 boxes, for a really popular property, perhaps consider inserting as a "hit" a redemption card good for the 4 plates that make one card.

Also, while we have you, I'd like to say that I loved the foil parallels of base-cards in the earlier sets, and was glad to see them brought back after a hiatus for the "Black Christmas" set. I understand some sets may benefit from the foil treatment better than others due to photography, subject matter, etc., but please do consider bringing the foil parallels back for a future set. They really are a terrific value-added insert that hopefully, doesn't cost too much to produce.

Excited for the next set, whatever it is. Keep 'em coming!
(If it's "Phantasm", I'm sure glad I already have an Angus Scrimm autograph card.)
