I try to avoid message boards for the most part because often times they're a cesspool of the lowest common denominator. Because you can read and say horrible things online doesn't mean that it should just be accepted.

1. Yes, you can be terminated by your employer if you post anything on the internet that is against their code of conduct. Please see your employee handbook for reference.
2. Yes, you can be arrested for posting threats on the internet that are picked up by the government.

If you are dumb enough to be identifiable by your social media profile that you post from, then you deserve to get fired.

I have no idea who you are personally, but if you aren't one of those fans that goes to a game and curses out the other team, their family members, etc. in public, then good on you.

IMHO, he deserved to get fired. He wouldn't say that to Steph's sister's face much less Steph's (heck, he'd probably be that guy that asks for an auto and a pic and sell it on Ebay). Heck, I didn't even know Steph HAD a sister until this thread.

I don't have a Twitter account, but if I wrote the stuff that kid wrote, I deserve everything I get. It has nothing to do with being PC. It has to do with being a decent person.

Unfortunately the majority of people do not do the same thing. People get worked up over stuff that has absolutely no impact on their life. They get offended over things that are insignificantly minor and of no consequence.

It sucks, many times people have way to much time on their hands and really at the end of the day people should really treat others with more respect and courtesy than they do.

BUT.

A business has to operate in the world we live in. The reality of the situation is that this persons comments reflect negatively on the business. And as an employee your only job is not to screw with the employers cost-benefit analysis of your compensation.

Maybe it's a steep price to pay for an idiotic comment. But someone has to pay for it. Either the employer or the employee and I know whose going to foot the bill 100% of the time in that scenario.

I wish people would know the definition of FREE SPEECH before whining about not having in anymore.

As an employer, I would have fired him, too.

I had a nice little chuckle when I read the posts about this ruining his life, not being able to provide for his family, etc. He was an intern, and as you could tell if you READ all the facts...he didn't give a sh.it that he lost his job. He even said he'd do it again. Damn, poor guy. :/

Also, this ''pc world'' we live in is the same ''pc world' that would protect your 3 year old daughter as well. You're free to say whatever you want, but there are always consequences for your actions. Some of the same people on here who are whining about 'free speech' are the same ones having sissy fits in threads in the OT section.

Learn how to act like a respectable adult. That job wasn't guaranteed to him, and he put himself (and his employer) in a negative light. That's HIS fault, not Curry's sister's, not his daughter's, not anyone else.

Grow up.
