Cards are up. Took me a minute to figure out which was by Jared and which was by Angel. Both look great.

The powder blue jersey for Winn is fantastic. Great reference photo, and Angel knocked it out of the park.

I love that Jared flipped the sleeve ad for Yamamoto, which resulted in Topps eliminating it from the card and print. Not sure if they would've done so either way, but sleeve ads are an abomination, and it's nice to see it not included in the final piece.

It's crazy that this set is up to #745, I wonder how many people are still in on this. I was able to make it to around #225 buying three of each drop.

I'm at 3 sets...this would be the last set I quit if I slowed down collecting.

This is turning out to be the penultimate set Topps and collectors hoped for . Long live the Living Set!

It's okay, it can be hard, they're the McCartney & Lennon of baseball art.

Penultimate to ... what is the ultimate (final) set? Flagship? Topps Now?

It definitely has some very unique properties that set it apart from other releases ... granted we are seeing all that uniqueness erode slowly.

I was thinking second only to the original 1953 set on which this is modeled, but I stand corrected, this may be the ultimate set . Long live the Living Set.

I love the pose on Yamamoto. Glad the set is now including some classic poses.

With all of the craziness of parallel's and breakers and breakers boxes and various other things, the Living Set seems to be the only pure product for me and I love that. The only thing they have done is the /10 black text parallels which was not something I understood. That being said TLS will be the last product for me as well. I love not having to chase cards and just enjoy the beauty of the artwork and the growing encyclopedia of players. Truly this set is the best out there. (Hope they don't do football and basketball once licenses are all Fanatics...)

I agree with everything you said except the parenthetical. I'd love to see a Topps Living FB Set.

Do you say this because these would be tempting sets to start (begrudgingly costing more money from the wallet) or because you just plain ol' don't want a flood of Living sets?

I'm enjoying the UEFA EURO '24 Living set though I hope they put that in hiatus as the clubs take center stage again.

No doubt NBA and NFL will come and I'm sure those will start with strong print runs, especially if the artists are excellent like MLB. I expect Topps/Fanatics to do a Premership set as the license starts in '25.

I've been buying the weekly bundles direct from Topps since I found out about the set in week 4; luckily, I was able to catch up on those first three weeks before prices got silly at the time. I have no intention to stop any time soon (despite the lack of Royals cards!).

I say that because my wallet is going to be crying if we get other sports. I too am snagging all the EURO cards, that art work is good enough. I did not do the club cards because that artwork was sub-standard though the artist used a different style. Just wasn't for me.

If they get quality artists to do NFL and NBA, I will be all in on both sets as well.

Very fair, I wouldn't collect the whole set of NFL/NBA but it would be hard to resist some favorite players from each...especially players from the past.

The UEFA club cards did start off rough artistically...got 18 cards into the set when I decided the art was not good enough for the player selection being provided. It has made a comeback though with a better artistic style and I've cherry picked some favorite players.

We are now at almost 750 cards and and I'm wondering when/if we will ever see the following 7 players who are within the 25 greatest of all time:

1. Barry Bonds

2. Walter Johnson

3. Joe Dimaggio

4. Mike Schmidt

5.Rogers Hornsby

6.Cy Young

7. Tom Seaver

Despite now having over 250 of these cards graded PSA 10 the set is feeling a little incomplete at the moment without these players. I understand there is an obvious licensing issue with Bonds but as for the other 6 I'm not so sure. Let's go Topps ! I'm now referring to them as the "essential 7".

I’m hoping for basketball…with Byron Scott being card #4 naturally

The question is which designs would they use for football and basketball?

For football I would think that they would use the 1977 design that was used for the UEFA Champions League set.

But there aren't a huge number of good options for basketball, since Topps never produced many basketball sets outside of the 1970's. Maybe the colorful 72-73 or 73-74 designs?

The problem with Living for me has always been the price.

Given that the vast majority of the cards are commons, and that there are generally 1500-2500 printed of each player, I can't justify paying $5+ per card. In any other context, most of these would be .25 cent cards, not $5+.

Heck, you can buy original hand-painted cards by artists like John Hatton or Juan Rosales (who are just as talented as Jared) for less than $50!

Those guys are good, but let's not get carried away.
Plus, these particular Hatton originals are listed at $250 each, not $50.

1957 is my guess for basketball

Your essential 7 is spot on, I would argue that this set to be complete has another 5-6 (modern) players the must be represented or it feels incomplete.

Hate him or love him ARod has to have a card in this, the same goes for Pete Rose. You also have to at some point get Koufax and Reggie Jackson and then the greatest second baseman ever, Joe Morgan.

This set is getting close, and I am very hopeful card 800 is Schmidt or Rose.

Personal favorites still missing for me as well Steve Carlton, Mel Ott, Willie McCovey and Sammy Sosa.

I'm the owner of those cards, and have listed them with much higher prices than what I bought them for because I feel his work is undervalued.

But you can see that plenty of his cards sell for <$50.....

https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_trk...&LH_Complete=1

John's problem is that he does not do any marketing, nor have any social media presence, so very few collectors know about his work (I discovered his cards by accident about 10 years ago).

But his work is terrific....

FYI - I will be dropping the next batch of artist-signed cards on my site an hour early today. The following cards will be available beginning at 5pm central time: Christy Mathewson (/40), Adley Rutschman (/25), Albert Pujols (/25), Jordan Walker (/25), and Jimmy Rollins (/25).

Thanks again for the interest in these!
