Someone enlighten me....
I get an email that's somebody has sent me an offer on an item. I log into COMC and go to the offer which now says I can't do anything with it because the item has sold. I look at the sold item in my history and the person who sent the offer was the one who ended up buying it. Also now that offer stays on my dashboard the entire time until it expires. As others have mentioned, it's likely they were trying to see if you have auto-accept. Some sellers have auto accept and auto reject at the same level. So if you make them an offer, it will be automatically accepted. Usually this is around 10-15% off, but I've seen sellers which have it as high as 40% off. If I'm buying from a large dealer for resale, I'll sometimes make one offer to see if they have auto accept enabled. If not, then I'll usually cancel the offer and buy the item. If they do have auto accept enabled, I'll make a note of it and I'll be much more likely to buy from them in the future. If it's for resale, I don't want to knock someone down on price and then jack it up. If you offer an item for a wholesale price, then fine. But if you're asking retail, I don't want to talk you down to wholesale. Also, if the seller rejects the offer, or raises the price of the item, I would have been better off just paying the original asking price. OTOH, if it's an item for my personal collection, and the price is slightly out of line with what I could purchase the item for on a different site, then I might offer that price. So, if you're asking $50 for an item I could buy outright for $40, I might offer the $40. In that instance, I would consider $40 to be a retail price and it's an item I'm willing to pay retail for. I might even be willing to pay, say, $44 to compensate for the cash-out fee. As a seller, it's also happened to me before that there's some glitch with COMC, and an offer which should have been automatically accepted is not automatically accepted, probably due to some bizarre rounding issue. In these instances, it's not uncommon to see the offer cancelled and the item purchased by the person who made the offer. |

I sent in a box (my first) of about 500 cards to COMC in Jan. My original "due date" was 2/12. About a week before the due date, cards started trickling into the portal for pricing, and then the vast majority of them were dumped in the day they were due (and about 140 about 3 hours after the due date, so it was a nice bonus to get them for 20% less). After the last dump, it indicated there were 5 cards remaining. That was 10 days ago. Since then, none of the remaining 5 cards have been processed. Truth be told, I am not even sure what those 5 cards are, but I am confident based on the number processed and their numbers that there are still 5 cards of mine from the initial shipment that have not hit my portal. I expected them to trickle in over the past 10 days, but there is no change. Instead, there is just a new deadline listed for those 5 cards of 3/12 (I could swear yesterday when I checked it said 3/10). Is this fairly common? Are the cards lost? On a slow train? Other issue? Just wondering whether this is cause for alarm or if it is likely those cards will eventually hit the portal. Thanks.

My rushed shipments fell another day behind. Shameful

When you get an email from COMC that says the check is in the mail does this mean that they have actually sent you your check or is there still a wait time generally after that. The only reason I ask is because it seems like the check should have been here early last week and is not. Wa to OR is not that far and the weather here was not too bad. Pretty new to COMC and it’s a pretty large check with no tracking number about 17,000. How long does it generally take after they said they mailed it for them to actually mail it

It's fairly common. I still have some cards trickle into my account which were originally due May 8. |

Can someone help me understand this. I've noticed that with some items like base cards or other "listings" where there are many items on COMC there is only one listing on ebay. That is it doesn't have the drop down to choose from multiple items, but it seems there is just one card listed.
Does anyone know how/why certain cards are listed when there are 20 on the sight. I noticed this with Marvel Masterpieces base cards where there are many on the site - most for less than a $1, and then there is a listing for $3 of the same card on ebay.

They are picking up alot of recent negatives on eBay for 3 week shipping and people having to file cases to get items shipped. Is it really that hard to take a month off of the auctions to catch your shipping department up? Or are things that close to where you need that revenue even if you clearly can't handle it?

I'm so surprised that smartass Chris hasn't sent you a response. He acts as if they are always on top of things there. I wish I would have cashed out the rest of my funds instead of buying a ton of singles. They really concern me. I won't submit another card from here on it. I have zero confidence they are going to stay afloat.

For whatever bizarre reason, eBay won't allow choice listings in the non-sports card category, but they do allow choice listings in the sports card category. So non-sports cards are listed one at a time. |

Correct. Variations listings are not on eBay nonsports category. So for a card that is brand new to the site, it likely will take the eBay slot for that specific card. Once 15 more get added, none of them see eBay until the first one is purchased. If it's been up for a couple of months without selling, COMC will remove the listing and later on maybe put up a different one from their group. Since you can see the specific COMC item number on eBay, you know which one you should buy if you want to flip it for higher on eBay. I've done that a few times to good success. It helps knowing that the COMC race to the bottom won't undercut your listing on eBay for months.

Great advice here. I’m looking at cards selling for pennies on COMC and still sell for a few bucks on eBay. Makes it easier to determine if I should bring it home. That said shipping obviously has been a problem. One question on “variation” listings though. I see some variation listings on marvel base cards from some other sellers - how do they get around it but COMC can’t? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Are their any other sites like COMC? I do like how you can just wait to ship instead of paying shipping each time. Granted I have about 140 ready but seeing it takes so long I am just waiting and adding more card.

I've been so close to doing this many times. Hopefully it wasn't a huge card or loss.

Not really. I still made a profit, but I was hoping to get a few more dollars ($10-15). I clicked accept thinking it was reject, went back to my dashboard and saw it in the sold section and was like “oh someone bought it anyway, nice”. Then I saw the price and my brain woke up. D’oh.
