There are 3,127 shows in WI if anyone is in the area. Speaking of which, I feel kinda left out... Anyone want to partner up and start a show? :-)

More importantly what would a Ty Cobb base sapphire RC sell for? And what about a duplicate base TCUS repeat (non RD) do? Assuming iconic flagship image and doubled PR of course on the repeat. Inquiring minds wanna know.

Crazy to think where we are now compared with the ol boys thinking pictures of the games best might sell a few more packs a smokes.

Thoughts on Dallas show this passed weekend? Was not there but would love to get peoples opinions on this years show compared to previous years. Similar, different, same with cheaper prices?

Without going or talking to anyone else about the show, I can tell you exactly how it went...

Good crowd
Very little cash changing hands
Tons of guys trying to sell to the dealers
Dealers weren't buying or trading
Pelibois looking to unload junk
Most things were overpriced (showcasing their stuff like a museum)
Cheap stuff did well

You just described every show since the 80s. Real clairvoyant.

You must've missed the boom shows. It was quite the opposite. The point being...this is the new norm. Doesn't matter if it's a show in someones basement in Tulsa or the Dallas show. What I described is the now and foreseeable future.

Pelibois were around in the 80s? Trimming had been around but grading those trimmed cards started in the 90s.

Pelibois were around in the 80’s, but they were known as “flocks of seagulls” back then.

Trying to peddle don mattingly and Dwight Gooden cards in swarms.

But instead of blocking the views of customers with their carrying cases, your vision was obstructed by their wildly erect hairstyles.

I'll second this. I went on Saturday, got there around 10am. Had to take off at 1pm. During that time, every room was slammed. There wasn't a table I went to that didn't have someone come up trying to unload on the dealer. Some deals were happening, but most weren't. A lot of dealers had "BUYING!!!!" signs, so word must have got out to all the peliboys; they were everywhere. Saw a couple of vloggers doing their thing, CC2 and mojo. A lot of dealers sitting on their phones, which was annoying. You're a salesman, sell your stuff. A lot of cards overpriced. Talked in another thread about a PSA 10 Ohtani, comping at $200-$300, dealer wanted $1200. I'm sure the same thing was happening everywhere. I stuck mostly to the $10 to $200 stuff. Made a couple of deals, but nothing crazy. All in all, it was a busy Saturday and reminded me why I typically go on Sundays.

As a Mid-Atlantic resident, what would I get out of going to Dallas vs. Chantilly & Philly?

Dealers who don’t have the same old cards every single show - it’s always good to see a fresh selection of pickings.

Was there Saturday 11-6 and Sunday 930-1130. Talking to dealers on Saturday, it sounds like the traffic level was pretty good. As others have said, most prices were pretty high, but there were some dealers that had stuff priced reasonably. The last time I had been to DCS was July, and the vendors that were good in July were good again this time, and some of the ones that were bad in July were bad again this time. I didn't really have time to dig through tons of value boxes, but I hit up one or two that were good in July and got some good deals.

I'm not going to be in a rush to go back (probably July again), but it's still a best in class show again. It's also in a great spot with good restaurants and reasonably priced hotels around.

I'm thinking a lot better selection of Dallas Cowboys cards.

I saw the one video from the show that had a guy with just absolutely stupid .25 cent boxes. Sounds like he got a collection for crazy cheap and was passing on the deals to customers there. People with stacks upon stacks.

Went to another Sunday-only show on the Southwest side of Chicago (further west than the last one -- Orland Park this time). This show wasn't for me. It was billed as 80 tables (compared to the 50 at the other show) and the room and corridors were tight without much room to browse or navigate beginning at the 9:00 hour. Nothing was easy to check out and many vendors felt unapproachable. I left feeling like I wanted to spend more money but I wasn't seeing anything for me and I felt like the space wasn't comfortable.

I went to the Dallas show all 4 days. I bought more than I ever have before. Plenty of deals to be made. Dealers were definitely more willing to make deals than anytime during the last 2 years. It was a fun time.
