Even up to like, 10 different sales I could see but what kind of money has been spent on PSA 8 - PSA 10’s the last 3 months? $10+ million? All spread out over different cards would mean there’s multiple hundreds of people dropping $25,000+. Who are those multiple hundreds of people? That’s what I can’t wrap my mind around.

it is hard to wrap my head around, too. no question.

i think ALL THE MEDIA attention to the record-breaking sales, combined
with social media, buying groups, you-tubers, etc., has created the perfect storm.

No one mentioned it... shame on us.

we were on Page 57 in a Michael Jordan thread that mentions the 1986 Fleer quite a bit.

If it’s truly a long term mindset, I think all of this is great. But if this all centers around quick transactions, then this obviously isn’t going to be beneficial because the turnaround quick selling off after purchasing is what will take the prices right back down to what they were or lower because people will sell at whatever price simply to get out.....

Not sure what you were referencing? I didn’t mention anything in regards to sales of psa 10 #57? But yes, we have seen examples recently...... so.... not sure where you were going with that.

My point in all of this new buying, is there true justification in it? I pointed out a low population of high graded sticker #8, and that’s a solid argument for buying. Someone mentioned a low print run of 1988 or 89 compared to pop reports, and that would be justification. What you never want to see is prices jumping sky high with ZERO factual validation/justification...as those prices will never be sustainable...

I'm surprised the seller took $11k for the 9. Figure that's a $12-13k card at this point.

Funny thing is I've got an 8.5 basically just like that one. It's .5 from a 9 and the only reason is because it got an 8.5 for centering which is an absolute joke...it's easily a 9 centered card. At this point I may try to cross it to PSA because it looks that good.

Do we think these prices are sustainable? or will they eventually drop? I'm so glad i've held onto my 4 on card Bulls autos =) they will eventually do the same and take off!

Agree. Seems like a good “deal”....if you can call it that in these crazy markets!

I’ve wondered the same... but these sticker cards historically have been priced low for so long....even if prices drop a little, I just don’t see them going back to historical prices, when we see how much fewer have been graded and their low high grade population (compared to the #57). It just wouldn’t make sense for them to drop low again...now what’s their justified ceiling compared to the #57, I have no idea...

I've got 4 on card Bulls autos as well. 2 graded by BGS, 1 by PSA and 1 raw. No doubt that they will only appreciate over time. He signed a lot of stuff back in the day, but he basically doesn't sign anything now and the demand for his autos is only going to increase.

This is #@#@#@#@ing nuts every day is an adventure in the current market. I had another buddy message me saying he was a big collector late 80s early 90s hasn’t looked at them since and he heard sports cards are heating up. Crazy to say this is still early stages of the run up.

also can someone explain the algorithms that beckett uses to grade? they dont make any sense..this is why they suck

example 1987 59 bgs 8 (sub cent 7.5, edge 9 cor 8.5 sur 8)

I have one bgs 8 ( cent 7.5 edge 9.5 cor 9.5 sur 9.5)

their web site says they use an algorithm to figure out cards and centering weights first...i took advance calc and still cant find logic

They usually but not always just give you a .5 above your lowest grade. This is the way most slabs are there are always outliers. For example a really bad grade say surface of a 3/4 and everything else a 9 or better they will usually go up one point from your low grade. Hope this helps.

still doesnt make sense only solution is to crack and send it to psa for a solid 8 then...

I believe that Centering is the strongest sub on the card. In your case it only goes up .5 to make it an 8. If the 7.5 is on Surface... The 9.5s I think can bring it up 1 full point on overall.

I could be way off.
