**The Perennial JUAN SOTO Thread!**

The entire sports card market got a overheated and that counts for every player. The only things that haven't really gone down recently are very rare items, but if you look at the grand scheme of things, prices are still way up since late 2019 / early 2020. For a player like Soto and some others, when you project out his entire career, this will look like a missed buying opportunity IMO.

I was speaking more player specific. I don't think he was too expensive based on his body of work and where he projects to.

For a player like Soto and some others, when you project out his entire career, this will look like a missed buying opportunity IMO.

I agree. I just think there will be significantly better buying opportunities in the not too distant future.

This is probably about as white whaley as I get. When I saw it listed for auction I was shocked. I just assumed the few times one of these would show up it would be accompanied by a considerable BIN. I didn't think I would win it but the recency-bias gods were good to me and I got it for 1/4 my snipe.

Including the Pink /3 and the Black 1/1, there are only 24 Soto RCs in the 2018 Flawless base set so I consider myself lucky to be in an elite club that not many have the opportunity to partake in. I couldn't be happier with this card.

I don't know know about other buyers here, but I wonder how much The National Card show is affecting current market prices. I know for someone like myself, I have been hibernating for a bit in anticipation of going to The National next month with some money in my pocket.

I also never personally try to time the market especially for rare items. I have been the new high bidder several times on items over the years and it always seems to work out in the long run.

For super rare stuff or stuff that you don't care if goes up or down and just want to own, of course. I'm still buying stuff that falls into that category. But for anything else? It's not really trying to time the market with how clear the offseason picture is. The lockout cloud looming is the equivalent of if everyone invested in the stock market would be 100% convinced from November-January that a recession was happening starting in February, yet zero of that fear is currently priced in. Why buy before then?

There are 2 answers, tons of deals for cards that aren’t “famous”, and the very reason you asked the question is for the “famous” cards. Value depends on the seller for Soto RC’s. They may be priced at future ceilings already and those cards are listed as such, for sale in the future or if some crazy buying takes place. There was some great RAW card buys I think to be had partly because they were not sent in for grading. Other opportunities may be snatching up Prizm variants of all types along with some Topps Crome insert refractors and special release sets. My answer would be to your question, this is the market now.

I've always thought he was the one but I sold a PSA 10 rainbow for 1600 and a 9.5 Purple Silver Pack for 1500 in Feb.

Just thought it was too much too soon.

I'm watching again. Maybe wait for a bigger fall dip or more of the sneaker boys dumping but prices are starting to get interesting again.

Haha! I have absolutely no clue. They’re all the same to me.. but I do know some collectors that like having the first card and some like having the last card produced.

Yup. It’ll be especially quiet (relatively speaking) in the week before, because cards won’t arrive in time to be sold at / brought to the show.
