Last Couple of horror movies I watched

Mandy - Nic Cage does a great job showing us how insane he is. Film was ok.
OverLord - WWII, Zombie/Monsters, starts out great, ends weak.
Velvet Buzzsaw - Overall just a 2 hour episode of Black Mirror, only not as interesting.

I re-watched Sinister (1 and 2) last night. Forgot how much I liked them

I watched Dead Ant this weekend. It was exactly as expected. Bad CGI, bad story. It was great. As a movie its a C- but as a bad horror/comedy its easily a B+ maybe even an A.

Saw "Mandy" a few months ago, and I agree, no one chews scenery like Cage does. Saw the other two last night. Neither is a straight horror movie, but there are some nice and creepy elements in each. Pretty solid special effects in "Overlord" including the traditional combat scenes along with the more horror movie-like elements. The "Velvet Buzzsaw" team's (same writer/director plus Jake Gyllenhall and Rene Russo) previous effort "Nightcrawler" was significantly better, although "Buzzsaw" had some good ideas in it. Gotta disagree on the "Black Mirror" comparison, though. There's some far-flung technology in that series, but nothing out-and-out supernatural. "Black Mirror" goes out of its way to avoid that, to its great credit.

Is anyone going to see The Prodigy this weekend? Hoping it isn't just another 'child possessed' re-hashed horror type of movie...

Finally got around to watching Overlord.

I enjoyed it. I agree with the ending being kinda a let down, but aside from that it was well done.

velvet buzzsaw: felt like all the $$$ went towards the cast and not enough execution on the overall story. Wish it coulda been even darker than they made it..

Went and saw this last night.....I was the only one in the theater which was awesome. But you know what was not awesome? This movie.

Best line in the movie which had me say, "WTF" out loud in the middle of the empty theater was from the little 8 year old boy telling his therapist,

"I went into your restroom and took some of your pills. I also found a few of your pubes on the toilet seat, I put them in my teeth so if you tell anyone what's wrong with me, I'll have the cops here and tell them I woke up with your c*ck in my mouth after you drugged me"

I have an AMC A List pass so I was considering seeing this (mainly because the only other movie that looks ok and just came out is Cold Pursuit). That quote alone will make sure I never see it so thanks for keeping me from wasting my time!

I had to watch Overlord because it was WWII but someone forgot to tell the writers there were no US black paratroopers in the European theatre. There was the 555th Smoke Jumper unit that was actually all black but they never left the US, they just trained to put out fires in Oregon I think.
Yeah I know it's a zombie movie but still...

Blumhouse’s Into The Dark series on Hulu is great. It’s an anthology horror movie every month. About to watch the newest one, the Treehouse.

To follow up, I think Treehouse was the best one yet. Not sure how long they plan on doing these but I can’t wait for next months.

It was ok to me. Could have been really good but at times the storyline was like wtf really and I didn’t like all of the laughter in the theater. I want horror, people holding their breaths, not laughing every 10 minutes.

Watching Hell Fest, could be kinda interesting.
Serial Killer that kills people at a horror-themed amusement park.

People can't tell if the killing is for real or part of the show.

OH SNAP!! The guy that plays candyman made a small cameo.

Yes we had some immature gigglers too. We also had a crying infant five rows down from us. SMH

This is why I am perfectly fine just staying home to watch movies except the girlfriend really wanted to see it.

Similar film came out a month or so before this one called BloodFest. It was done by the Rooster Teeth folks if you want to check it out as well.

Phantasm: Ravager is absolutely horrible.

Stay away from it at all cost.
